Characters: Lisa and SURPRISE~! Stark When: Very, very early Wednesday morning (in the 2AM-4AM time span) Where: Ruknogai -> Seireitei Rating: PG? Summary: Lisa kicks some ass and meets an unlikely savior.
She was smart, if not a little foolish. But she had gotten out. Had Stark been there to watch, he might have offered words of advice should the situation happen again. As it stood, he rather hoped it wouldn't. Not even the Arrancar treated Orihime as badly as these Shinigami treated Lisa. With the exception of Loli and Menoli, of course. But they were not really worth mentioning
( ... )
Each step felt like a mile, but she pressed on forward. Nothing would stop her from getting back and assuring herself Nanao was fine and to, well, bid her goodbyes. This kidnapping had opened her eyes. They weren't welcome here. They weren't ever going to be welcome here. Now she would constantly be on guard and not trusting of anyone.
Lisa felt and heard Stark before he even opened that lazy mouth of his. After what had just happened, she wasn't in the mood for small talk and didn't respond. Her sheer pride kept her feet moving, one in front of the other. The surprise that he, of all people, found her first was hidden under a look of tired disdain.
As she neared, her eyes stared hard into his. She hoped it wouldn't have to come down to a fight. In her current state, there was no way to ascertain victory. "Come to have a look at the sideshow?" Lisa brushed pasted him, heaving a rather large, irritated sigh. "I'm busy."
"Busy?" he echoed as he let her hobble on by. "Busy trying not to fall down." Eyes blinking slowly, Stark shook his head and walked after Lisa slowly. His long strides were tired and he may as well have paused between each because Lisa was going nowhere fast. After a while of staring at her back, however, bored of seeing her struggle, he reached a gloved hand out and rest it on her shoulder. Compassion was not really in his nature, so everyone thought, but he could not bear to watch this woman keep going like this.
"I'll take you back," he said simply. "You won't make it back in one piece at this rate."
As she kept walking, she could hear him trudge along behind her. With each step she became angrier. Why was he hanging around? What was his angle? Lisa just wanted to be left alone with her thoughts. How was she going to tell Nanao and Kyouraku-taichou who she had seen? One of her own-- Well, not really anymore. It was like being stabbed in the back all over again.
When his hand was placed on her shoulder, she easily slapped it off. "Don't touch me," she bit out. "I don't need your help." Never mind that she would have liked to not push herself. She wasn't one to readily accept help, even in a time of need. Especially from him.
Lisa spun around, nearly losing her footing in the process and looked at him accusingly. "Why help me? What are you up to?"
Pride was a real pain in the ass. He took his hand back, not offended, and slipped it into the front of his uniform. Only brilliant and staring cyan eyes looked back down on Lisa, waiting for her to be done with her little hissing fit. How troublesome.
Yet as he watched her stumble, he didn't go to aid her. She didn't want his help, after all. Let her fall.
"I'm not up to anything," he said truthfully. Helping her out of this situation was of his own accord, not his mission. "I just figured you'd want to be able to stand upright and carry yourself with dignity when you got back to Seireite. At this rate, you won't."
