Everyone Says I'm Getting Down Too Low

Who: Yahanshu Annai, OPEN
When: April 27th
Where: Realm of the Living, maybe dropping over by Urahara's
Rating: PG
Summary: Miles away from home and bed. Annai tries to make the best of the situation, and maybe sneak in a nap.

It was just his luck. Of all the days the former captain of the Fifth had to rear his ugly head and decide to put his foot down upon them, it would be one of the days that Annai and his squad were out on patrol. On the upside, they weren't the only ones out, surely. That still didn't change the fact that they were all stuck, and no one could say when the Senkaimon would reopen.

"Aaaah~ annoying, annoying, annoying...." the Eighth Division's Thirteenth Seat whined, huffing as he snapped his phone shut. No new developments on the situation, but then Annai supposed he couldn't really expect much when he'd only checked ten minutes ago. Time seemed to pass so much slower when one was awake.

Grumbling, he looked sourly at his phone before putting it away. His captain had mentioned trying to arrange a place for them if they needed it, which was a slight improvement over the advice in looking at the whole thing as some extended vacation. This was hardly Annai's idea of a vacation. It was more like slow torture. Activity had been slow yesterday, and the initial anxiety from the whole closure of their only way back home had long since died, leaving Annai to run on a rapidly waning supply of adrenaline.

His squad well knew his habits by now. They'd left him to practically a stationary position as they spread out around the immediate area for this day's patrol. The tree he was currently standing beneath was starting to look terribly tempting a place to nap. He'd caught himself nodding off several times already, and after checking the time to realize only two minutes had passed since he'd last looked, Annai sighed and forced himself to walk. Move, keep moving, maybe moving will keep him awake for at least a little while more. No, no...he knew that wouldn't work.

He circled his way back towards the tree again, promptly dropping down at its base, back thudding against the trunk. "......" He shifted his zanpakutou, resting his hand over its hilt as he drew a knee up to drape his other arm. A soft breeze blew, stirring the leaves above him with a gentle rustle. It was peaceful here, and nothing off to be felt for miles, or so he'd like to believe. His eyes were closed before he realized it, his head lolling forward.

Maybe...just a few minutes...
