When the whistle and the call of his name came, Hitsugaya had worked himself into a fine temper. He was trying to be patient; he knew full well that the Plus souls were having as difficult -- or more so -- a time as the shinigami right now. Everything was different and he... Well, he just had to deal with it and adapt.

So... adapt already. It would work better if he could find the damned Plus hanging around here somewhere. Hitsugaya spun on his heel, brow furrowed and seeking out the source of the voice. Sometimes a familiar voice was fine and well. This time, he wasn't so sure. He sighed when he picked the form of Kurosaki Isshin out from among the branches of the tree. He crossed his arms, looked up over the hedge, and called, "what?"

He had a job to do; one that didn't include having to deal with The Idiot.

Hitsugaya did not wave, or say hello, or any of those friendly things that might have meant that the two of them were getting on well. Isshin ignored that though. After all, he was quite used to dealing with cranky white-haired youngsters! Isshin waved cheerfully.

"Over here!" he repeated, though he didn't clarify. Would Hitsugaya just march on, grumpily unaware of the Plus, hurrying away from the dreaded Moron? What a shame if he did. Then Isshin would have to chase him down and hand off the Plus to him. He supposed he should be fair to the soul that was sitting at the base of the tree.

Isshin rummaged in the sack that held his lunch, taking out another well wrapped sandwich. "Here you go!" he called, dropping it into the lap of the Plus that was sitting on the ground beneath him. "Thought you might be hungry!"

Perhaps Hitsugaya was hungry too, and would chase after the sandwich. Well. Isshin took another bite of his own food. He couldn't see why anyone wouldn't want to, Yuzu was fantastic at making sandwiches!

Yes, yes, Hitsugaya had figured out he was over there. He got that, thanks. Had even figured out that Isshin wanted him to go over there. That was simple enough. He crossed his arms and cocked his head, just looking at The Moron for a moment. He was in the process of shaking his head when Isshin dropped a wrapped sandwich -- it looked like it could be a sandwich -- out of the tree.

Oh, no. No. He couldn't just be... sitting on the plus soul Hitsugaya was looking for. He closed his eyes for a moment and, after a moment, just groaned.

Of course.

It didn't take much to get over the hedge -- shunpo was really a wonderful thing -- and Hitsugaya slid to a stop, eyebrow raised and most definitely not starting to twitch.

He'd found the Plus soul, so therefore, this was a success.

Hitsugaya didn't seem to get it. he just stood there for a few moments, glaring at Isshin, as if by doing so, he'd be able to knock him out of the tree. Isshin was mentally cheering for the short shinigami, really, hoping he'd realize what was going on. He couldn't just shout out "Here's a human soul for the reaping, Shinigami! Over here! No, no, behind that bush you can't quite seem to see over ( ... )

He'd kill him. Someday, Hitsugaya would find some way to get even. Someday. Somehow. He glared at Isshin, eyes narrowed, and then his gaze snapped to the Plus soul.

Young, was he? The soul quailed a bit under his gaze and shrank back. Young he might be, but Hitsugaya could still send someone cowering with a look, should the need arise. This might not exactly be a need, but Hitsugaya couldn't really fault himself for it now. Maybe he did need the reassurance.

Especially after being called girly and short. Bad-tempered he really couldn't argue with.

He ignored the Plus for a moment and stared at Isshin. "Thanks for vouching for me," he said dryly. The soutaichou's son? Really? (Idly, a part of him wondered just what Ukitake would say to that one.) "Are you finished?"
