Gail Levine

Yesterday I went to a book signing by Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted, one of my favorite books for middle readers. She spoke for around 20 minutes about her two most recent books, Fairest and Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly. She is a tiny woman, very elegant, with a no-nonsense, East Coast accent. She gave the audience, about 80 women and girls (there were a handful of men) some advice about writing, and read a bit from both the books. It was very well done and interesting. I managed to get three books signed (I may keep Fairest for myself), and also this awesome autograph for my library, which I will set on the shelf next to her books..

There is a gorgeous, cloud-free, blue Carolina sky today. Perfect weather.
