caution: angry blogger

So, after much thought, I'm still upset about Heroes. I simply cannot let it go. In lieu of that, I have assembled a long-winded tirade of my grievances with the show.

It appears to me that the writers of Heroes are trying to sabotage the show. They must not want to have a fourth season, because at the rate they’re going, there will be no fans left at the end of chapter 4: Fugitives. How is it possible to have so many plot holes and continuity errors in one season? It makes no sense.
Now that Elle is dead and gone there seems to be no chance that baby Noah will ever exist, wtg writers leading me on like that and then crushing m! dreams. On top of that, it isn’t the fact that they killed off Kristen Bell that upsets me; it’s the way they did it. She just kind of crapped out; there was a) no glory in it and b) NO REASON! Sylar had her powers already, if he knew about the lie-detector chick, why did he have to kill Elle? It makes absolutely no sense. Especially after all that crap about the future and starting a family. Write a damn story that makes sense!!!!!! For the love of all that is holy! They could have had her teleported somewhere, lost in time and away from Sylar, so that maybe they could bring KB back to guest star every once in a while, and maybe even have the character be preggers, and die later, giving Sylar a better reason for remorse (like not knowing she was pregnant, and not being able to save her, so he becomes good again to raise baby Noah). That would at least keep my interest, the promise that KB would magically reappear someday... Hmm, maybe I should write this show. As a fangirl, I admit that I am totally biased, but when the only reason I watch the show is killed off in the tritest of ways, I certainly have a right to get upset. I remember when this show was pretty good, and I liked the individual storylines. This year, I started off only liking Elle and half paying attention to the rest of the plot, hoping that it would re-attract my interest, then I started to ship Elle/Sylar and gave up on the rest of the show altogether. Now what am I supposed to watch on Mondays?
Peter, who I thought was pretty much one of the original focal points of the show no longer even has powers. WTF? Do they plan on injecting him with synthetic powers? If they do, there is another giant continuity error, unless it happens against Peter’s will, but who would really want to give him his powers back anyway? Angela? It’s possible, but she seems to be against the formula as well, so that nixes that option, unless the writers decide to change her mind completely too.
Claire is, at least, becoming less obnoxious and whiny to me, although her hair is really fugly and they should just let her wear it her natural length. Long wigs on tiny people are not convincing. When her real hair was that long it was much fuller and fluffier, now it’s sort of limp, and the part looks funny, oh, and it almost always looks totally fake. I’m also curious about high school. Did her parents just let her drop out? That doesn’t seem like something they would do, although, Claire would probably just skip if she wanted to, but that isn’t the point; it’s like, all of a sudden, the fact that she is supposed to be 16 or 17 doesn’t matter to the writers… oh wait, neither do the rest of the story facts. *sigh* It makes me sad because Hayden is adorable and capable of playing a better part, why can’t they write a better storyline for her? Props though to whichever writer decided to end the incestuous infatuation between her and Peter. It’s creepy to me seeing them on screen because you know they’re totally making out off screen and it shows a little in the way they act.
Don’t even get me started on the fly, er go, Mohinder. He used to be totally pretty and convincing in his morals and principles. Now, he’s so vainglorious that he superficially decided to put his envy to good use and give himself some powers. Idiot. Any good scientist would know to test out something so temperamental before giving it to himself, I’m not even a mediocre scientist and I know that. And then there’s Ma-jah. I refuse to spell her name correctly in homage to her borderline retarded brother, whose name I don’t care to remember at this point. While I admit that poison leaking out of your eyes is not really a fantastic power to have, do you really need to bitch and moan incessantly about it? Also, why were she and man-boy Alejandro (ok, so I remembered it anyway) linked in their abilities if she didn’t really need him there in the end? Way to explain that one writers. Ultimately, they did appease me by taking her powers from her and sending her away. Couldn’t she have been the one Sylar killed? Or better yet, couldn’t she have been left in a Mohinder-coon to wallow away into nothingness? Sorry, wishful thinking.
The Niki/Tracy/Barbara/Dolly the sheep angle is dumb in my opinion. It might have been ok given a little more thought and explanation, but it’s as if they threw some half-cocked back story at us and then forgot that Niki ever existed in the first place. Where is Micah? How about Monica? I get that DL is dead (tear, I liked him), but just because he’s an orphan, it doesn’t mean Micah has to fall off the grid completely. Speaking of completely absent, parentless children, where the eff is molly? Wasn’t she living with Matt and Mohinder in their love nest in New York? Did she run away? Is she on a spirit walk in Africa? Did the flying monkeys kidnap her and take her to the wizard to get a better set of guardians? Explain it to me please writers!!!!
As for Hiro and Ando, I will always adore these two. I didn’t care for their Villains storyline, but they’re so cute that I heart them anyway. It annoys me though that Hiro is stuck 16 years in the past with no powers. If there is a plausible way for him to get out of that situation I would love to hear it. Especially since we no longer know of anyone who has the ability to teleport and manipulate time (Peter’s powers are gone and Arthur has a hole in his skull).
It’s dumb that Arthur was built up so much and stole the powers of some of my favorite characters (and killed Adam ) and then he just kicks it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he’s dead, especially now that we have our old villain Sylar back (I’m oozing cynicism here - Sylar was better when he was struggling with his conscience), it just doesn’t seem right that it was so easy to kill the man who was the supreme and uber-powerful villain…
Matt and Daphne are less annoying, but also not very convincing. I don’t feel any chemistry between the two, which makes me sad because I heart Greg Grunberg. Daphne’s hair is another atrocity that I don’t feel like devoting any energy to at all. But I also feel like the two of them aren’t doing much to evolve the overall story of the show.
Nathan. What can I say about Nathan? Lame. Way to make a huge stink out of him not dying and being the phantom of the heroes-verse (lame analogy, bear with me), and then also completely forget that it never happened and continue along the path of having it not make any sense. Thank you for being consistent in your non-consistency. Nathan flip-flops so much I think he’s given me whiplash. I liked in the future where he and Tracy were together, but there doesn’t really seem to be much development there other than a hook-up and manipulation on her part. On top of that, don’t senators have obligations to, say, the United States of America? Who’s doing all his work for him while he’s off traipsing through the jungle, or gallivanting about, avoiding any kind of actual political affiliation?
HRG, God bless you. You remain the twisted SOB that I love and adore. His character seems to be the only one sticking by his original attitude and storyline. There have been a few spots here and there where I really didn’t like him, but he seems to be a constant. Oh except for a spoiler I read stating that Claire is going to shoot and kill him at the end of fugitives. Great job writing that one, if it’s true.
Now we move onto Sylar. His sudden desire to be good was difficult enough to buy, but then he loses and regains his abilities and all of a sudden, his relationship with Elle, his desire to be a good person, his empathy, his plans for the future, and his remorse have all flown the coop. WTF?! I liked good Sylar, in my mental fanfics, Sylar always turned out to be good. Now he has regressed to season 1 Sylar, the one where no one’s life mattered as long as Sylar could get in there and poke around in the brain. FIND A NEW VILLAIN AND LET HIM PLAY WITH HIS EMPATHY FOR A WHILE!!!!!! please?
I don’t really care one way or another about Claire’s moms, but now that we have seen Meredith’s past she seems to have disappeared. Sandra will always be a character that I feel bad for, but she at least is consistent. Lyle doesn’t seem to have a purpose, and soon, I’m sure, the writers will leave him out and forget about him entirely as well.

I no longer feel invested in this show. I don’t have the energy to keep up with the plot twists and my imagination lacks the motivation to fill in the holes. If they hadn’t killed off Elle, a character that I felt had so much potential to be truly great (not just because of KB, although that helped). Of all the new characters introduced, she had the most depth (and the sweetest power), and she also had a likeability factor. It gives me a headache to see all the characters that I like killed off, only to keep the most obnoxious and poorly developed ones around to pester me and remind that this show once held a special place in my heart.

On a side note:
To tailgators everywhere: please be advised that following me that closely when I am already going well over the speed limit only encourages me to slow down and antagonize you. Don't push me into my road rage state of mind, no one needs to witness it.

Thank you for reading. I hope someone out there agrees with me.
