You know, just when you think you should be in absolute despair, people really comes through to surprise you.
I am talking of course of ESC Nationals. (That's Eurovision Song Contest.) One of Sweden's funnier (better) bands came in, did their thing and went off the stage. I loved it of course, but as disappointment and ESC are virtually attached at the hip, I wasn't expecting much. And then... they won!
I'm going to take the opportunity to say Whoo! And may I also add Hoo! "I'm not the worrying kind" hum-di-dum... Finally, some sense has gotten into this competition. ;)
On another note, I have discovered a new fandom. Or two, really, but so far I'm resisting the pull of Stargate: Atlantis (or Stårgåte: Åtlåntis, as they put it... poor schmucks...) which is mainly Rodney McKay/John Sheppard. That nefarious
sheafrotherdon is trying her darndest to seduce us innocent standersby as we speak.
The other fandom that I have been sucked into, as effortlessly as the tractor beam on that Death Star, is Smallville. Odd, seeing as how I have only seen an episode here or there (mainly first season) but found it mostly boring, and I could spend my time watching Charmed anyway, 'cause even if Charmed is swamped with plot holes and contrivances, at least it doesn't borrow plots from X-Files every other week. And there's Holly Marie Combs, and magic, and spells, and at one point Charisma Carpenter... and in sixth season there was Drew Fuller as Chris, so I was all good.
Smallville? Got one thing going for it. Lex Luthor.
I loves me some villains. When I watch a TVshow I usually give it up for the bad guys, rather than the heroes. See me watch Buffy and squee every time James Marsters showed up on stage in season 2. And Angelus was nothing but refreshing - I didn't even mind the love he had for his own voice. In Charmed Cole (Julian McMahon) was a hoot and a half the weeks he decided to be evil for a change. And when it comes to comics I root just as much for the bad guys as I do for the good guys, and when my favourite bad guy snuffs it I get really sad.
Lex's been a favourite of mine since I was 8 and read my first Superman comic. I was generally a X-Men gal (Wolverine! Magneto! Mystique!) myself, but Lex just made the holier-than-thou-ness of Superman bearable. And he was bald. How many bald villains do you know of, I'm just askin'...?
So now, I'm a part of the Smallville fandom. Not only is there Lex Luthor, but there's also Michael Rosenbaum (Luthor) and Tom Welling (Clark Kent) who does the most out of what scripts they get. Yeah. You can probably guess my pairing - my OTP in Smallville - seeing as how Lex and - to a lesser extent - Clark is the only ones I can really stand. (Chloe confuses me, Pete's an idiot, Lana is BORING, and Lois from time to time makes me want to bang my head into the wall. Lionel Luthor's funny on occasion, though.) So I say GO CLEX!
Yep. Am a nerd. Am very well aware. Don't very much mind. GO CLEX!
