She asks me to watch movies and/or tv-series with her, and in return I educate her poor, unfortunate 15-year-old ass in pop cultural knowledge. We watched Clueless yesterday (she liked it), and she told me in jest to write her a list of movies I recommend. She should know by now to never say shit like that to me. I have an unhealthy relationship to lists.
In the end it turned out to be three handwritten pages of movies. I think it's close to 200 or so, but I didn't really count. So far, she's seen about 20 of them before, but there are still movies left to last her for a year at least. I mixed and matched a lot, like... Casablanca next to Men In Black next to 12 Angry Men next to Indiana Jones and she can pick and choose which she wants to watch.
Anyway, I gave her the list this morning, and she facepalmed and groaned at me, but then she said: "I haven't even watched half of these."
"Not even The Matrix?" I asked, because who hasn't seen The Matrix?
"Yeah, about that," she says. "Could you explain to me the difference between The Matrix and Star Wars? I always confuse them."
...
"And what about Star Trek (pronounced "trick")? What's that?"
