Another New Year

There is always a lull once Chad leaves after a long visit... After a rather difficult decision of choosing to go to Vegas or stay in Fresno for the New Year's celebration, I chose Fresno (since I've been to Vegas the last 2 New Year's Eves) and because I had the opportunity to enjoy the evening with both Patrick and Chad. Chad came on Friday night and helped me babysit/play house with my sister's kids while her and my brother-in-law relaxed in San Luis Obispo. The rest of the time that he was here consisted mainly of sleeping in, lounging around the house, going out to eat and watching movies. Yesterday was the only day we really did anything. For New Year's Eve, Chad and I went to Hector's brother's apartment where he had a party and Patrick was the decorator (which only makes sense seeing as he is a professional event planner now). After a nice dinner with Chad, we headed to Carlos' where we were greeted by an already drunk Patrick. There was plenty of alcohol, cool people and a great boyfriend who volunteered to be the sober driver. We had a champagne toast at midnight, some dancing and a boxing match between men (Chad and Hector included). The only downside were my allergies brought on by Carlos' cats who nearly killed me. I had to take some puffs of Patrick's inhaler which most certainly saved me from a suffocating death.

I was happy to see 2006 go. It was a transition year for me that consisted of getting used to not living in San Diego and seeing San Diego friends and reacquainting myself with Fresno and Fresno friends. It was a bad year for Chad and I, but this year should be better as the long 5 year wait will be over and we will once again live in not only the same city, but the same apartment. I start a new semester on Monday at a new school with first graders. I'm also nervously looking forward to having my own class this Fall as a certified teacher where I will actually get paid for doing what I absolutely love. There are high hopes for 2007.
