statues / prized people

Today I finally got over my hesitation about the tram system, and went west (I think) to Frogner Park. Specifically, I visited the sculpture park created by Gustav Vigeland.

This was a massive project that GV designed and created over decades, statues of naked men, women, and children, designed to signify...what? I don't want to say the circle of life, as that sounds rather Lion King.
however, it's fitting.

in the middle of the design is the monolith, a pillar made up of dozens of naked statues, climbing and falling and climbing and falling and twisting. The artist never said what the monolith meant. (I'll post photos later. The iPad keyboard has smart quotes only so I can't make a URL for a page on the park.)

After this, I went to the Nobel Peace Prize Museum, which was very interesting. It told us the history of Alfred Nobel, of the peace prize in particular. The other Nobel prizes are given in Stockholm, but Nobel insisted the peace prize be awarded in Oslo. That made the Swedes mad!
