I thought of going to the Danish national museum, which looks like it's very good, but I'll probably do something similar in Oslo. Since my paternal grandfather's line is Norwegian, well... :-)
Instead I went to the Thorvaldsen museum, doing a niche thing. Bertel Thorvaldsen is a 19th century neo-classical sculptor, known for portrayal of characters from Greek and Roman mythology. The Mia (Mpls Institute of Art) has his statue of Ganymede feeding the eagle (i.e. Zeus). I saw it on Tourist Day this year :-) and today I saw the roughed-up original. (Thorvaldsen designed statues and many copies were made by the workers in his studio.)
It was fun to take my time in a quiet museum - quiet because a busload of high schoolers arrived when I was about to leave!
For my mid-afternoon meal I had a Danish hot dog - and believe me it was Danish! - and afterward went elsewhere a pastry and coffee.
