Best Forgotten, (pt. 10 of ?)

Sigh. It seems I have this compulsion to post at least one fic update a month no matter how pitiful that story/chapter might be. So, since it's almost December, here's the next bit of "Best Forgotten." I wish I could do better for those of you still reading OC fic, but this is all I could manage.

Okay, I've stopped choking after reading about "Mr. Nichol's compassionate intervention." I might live to eat again. Maybe.

You're putting on your grinchiest, most cruel and sadistic Grinch hat (and full costume) by revealing just how horrific this experimental procedure is. It's true that Ryan has far too many miserable and painful memories, but this would completely destroy him as a person and erase him forever. The doctor's self-serving, egotistical, inhuman approach and ambition is almost as disturbing as Caleb's phone call, with him calling Ryan by name, in what he hopes and believes will be a perfectly timed way to deal his final blow to hurt him one last time as Ryan before he has others inflict the unimaginable damage for him. Even with what Caleb has planned, he couldn't resist reveling in that parting shot.

Lucy, like another, reformed Grinch, has let her heart grow two sizes and realized it. She also bought a clue like Sandy, so maybe she got a great deal on Black Friday? I'm so glad that her heart and instincts are fully engaged and teaching her head a few lessons that she already felt, but couldn't embrace. I hope it isn't only the urgency, although that looms ever larger. I love her knew determination, which you describe in such wonderful imagery and detail, but I hope she won't be thwarted by Dr. Sleaze. She knows him and his kind enough to find a way to manipulate things.

Poor Ryan's lack of value and self-worth is on full display. That's never been in doubt, but it's so much more visceral, desperate and defeated here. If the Cohens or Charlie don't materials STAT, Lucy had better be the best damn surrogate advocate and more.

The one positive, if it can be referred to that way, is that Caleb seems just as arrogant and careless as ever, with no knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes at Casa Cohen. That won't be of much consolation if someone doesn't motivate!

Can I say you've ripped my heart out and stomped on it? It's not as shredded as Ryan's, but you have the power to fix both of them. Please use it wisely! (That means saving Ryan for Christmas.)

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I'll hold on the Christmas wishes for now, or until Brandon is a bad memory.
