Character: Noa
Fandom: Sky Doll
Deviance: 1+

Age: Unknown, but no more than a two or three years.
Gender: Female
Species: Bio-android. Noa is a manufactured being, but she's not 100% mechanical. Certain parts of her body (take a guess which ones) are made of of biological components to simulate a more realistic feel and look.

Canon Used: Comics!

Appearance:
Noa is from a line of Sky Dolls marketed as "highly customizable." She's made from bioplastics, which mimic the texture and temperature of human skin. It's ivory in color, but each part of the Sky Doll is replaceable. The joints of the elbows, knees, ankles and toes are highly visible, as well as seams in the torso for different parts of the Dolls' construction. Like the native people of Papathea, Sky Dolls also have tails and exaggerated "ears." The "ears" of the Sky Doll are nodes and differentiate the Dolls from real people, even when their joints are hidden by clothing. On their backs, they have a hole where their wind-up key can be inserted. Most Sky Dolls choose to keep this hole freely visible, since they must be wound-up every 33 hours, or else they will shut off.

By default, Sky Dolls have no distinguishing features from the rest of their line. They are not given hair (anywhere), and this is a customization option for their owner. As such, Noa goes through many different hairstyles, but without a specially designed wig, she is completely bald.

To mimic the race of Papathea, Noa's face mirrors their people and has no seams. She has a feline-like, button nose where the bottom is a light pink. Also, unlike many dolls in her line, Noa has purple eyes instead of red. However, like all Sky Dolls, Noa is equipped with a Mnemoic Limiter, which periodically deletes her memories. According to the company, this is to prevent a real personality independent of the Dolls' software from being formed.

Also, according to a "official fanart" (picked by the authors and published), Noa is 30% synthetic flesh, 40% stainless steel, 10% plastic, 5% copper wires, 5% safe fluids, 9.9% casual wear, 0.09% plastic make-up/nail varnish and 0.01% artificial flavor: skin. It also recommends gentle wash, "blessed rust-proof" sonic care, to avoid overheating, and to not bitch. Two of the features include time-key pause and bug-free M.R.I. This just amuses me and is not at all relevant, haha.

Psychology:
Sky Dolls, as a default, are given no real personality of their own. Their personality only exists on a chip. Noa is different. Because she was created differently, Noa has a personality of her own. While this difference is not actually easily seen in the comic (those personality chips must be damn good), it is told to us. Noa is a bubbly and social Sky Doll--she has no problems at all jumping into a crowd, and is perfectly happy to introduce herself to everyone in that crowd. She's a kind and gentle person who doesn't like to hurt anyone. She would much rather help everyone she can. Because of that, she'll sometimes do things that she doesn't necessarily want to do without (much) complaint, but she's still strong-willed. She doesn't let people push her around too much, but she does have a certain amount of give to verbal abuse, considering the industry she works in and what she is. It annoys her on the inside, but she'll just confront it with a smile and be as nice as always.

She does have a tendency to be a bit sarcastic, but this is usually shadowed by how bold she is. Noa will plunge headfirst in a situation without thinking twice about it, making her appear a bit ditzy because of her naivete in certain areas. But she's brave enough to tell her boss to his face that he's rude and just generally a terrible person. Noa will say what's on her mind, but she'll try and do it in the nicest way possible. Still, she's much more likely to be sarcastic and a bit bitchy to rude people. She hates rudeness!

Noa isn't totally naive, though. Since she manages herself and has control over her life more than any other Doll, she has a certain amount of street smarts. She generally doesn't get herself into terrible situations. She has enough sense to pick her masters carefully enough. None of them have been exactly in the running for the Nobel Peace Prize, but good enough.

The thing that Noa wants to know most is more about herself. She is living a relatively easy life and has friends, but she's unhappy in a lot of ways. She feels different from the other Dolls, and without her dreams of Agape, she has no way to explain them. It's just a feeling that she always has that she doesn't belong, that she's missing something. Other than those kinds of self-identification problems, Noa is very confident in herself. Obviously she has no physical flaws, but she's happy with who she is--she only wants to know why she is that way and how she came to be. Because of the Mnemonic Limiter, this is more than a little difficult, but she believes that the answers are waiting somewhere.

But speaking of belief, Noa doesn't have much in the way of spirituality. She understands the basics of the religion of Papathea, but doesn't know much about its workings. She has catered to clients in the church before, but they were only clients--she didn't really bother to get to the point where she understood their belief system. Noa doesn't really believe that she has a soul, since she's a Doll, but would like to. Like many of the more advanced dolls, Noa secretly wishes that she was "human" (the species of Papathea haven't been given a real name yet), but she also knows that it's impossible. It doesn't stop her from wishing.

Since Noa is so social, she is easily able to relate to other people and make friends. Since she's worked in the sex industry and other various industries that require a lot of interaction, she's very good at being open and tries to be non-judgmental. Her bubbly personality plays off of other social butterflies, but she is also persistent enough to try and make friends with more ornery and socially withdrawn characters. She really likes to be friendly!

This is especially easy because Noa isn't particularly opinionated about anything. Since her memories only last for an unknown amount of time (probably a little less than a year), she doesn't really have time to form her own opinions. That doesn't mean she isn't open to forming them or to learning in general. Noa is very eager to learn new things, and is one reason when she likes to change jobs so frequently. Getting to know new things is an exciting challenge for her. She's a Sky Doll of average intelligence with no real aptitude in one specific area, but has good operational knowledge spread across the board.

Noa gets emotional easily, and will freak out if she thinks something has gone bad, or be sad if something is remotely sad. She's a very emotional android, which the Sky Doll corporation would consider a flawed Doll. But she also has a variety of quirks, such as her acute claustrophobia and her tendency to pick up accents quickly when spending time with people. These traits are unheard of in other Sky Dolls, and would just be more flaws. However, most people don't tend to notice those "flaws," since Noa is such a kind, bubbly and sometimes ditzy person that they become good friends quickly.

Other Skills/Abilities:
Since Noa hosts the spirit of Agape, she is able to perform "miracles." The nature of her abilities is currently unknown, but one ability was shown and has been repeated. Noa has the ability to resurrect the dead, both animal and human. Presumably, the subject can be dead for several hours before Noa resurrects them, and this is with no detriment to her.

Otherwise, her abilities are unknown. We can assume that she has increased resistance as compared to a human that you would expect from an android, but nothing is explicitly stated.

Other Weaknesses:
While she's not human, it's easy to kill Noa! While we don't know where her processing takes place, if she blows up, she'll be dead, etc. In addition, Noa must be wound up every 33 hours using her key or else she'll shut down. It's literally like shutting down a computer--Noa will come back with no loss as soon as she's wound up.

History:
So before we get to into Noa's history, there are two things that need explaining. The first is Noa's Mnemonic Limiter, which is explained in the appearance section, since it...sort of belongs there. This means that most of the history I'll be explaining here Noa herself doesn't remember. Her current memories start when she was a barmaid at Purgatory (» Space Ship #1, Story #3). The second is the story of the Papal succession, which is central to the plot of Sky Doll. This will be explained more in detail in the reality section, but for now all you need to know is that the current papess is Ludovique because she had her sister and competitor for rule, Agape, killed. Now for Noa's story! Noa was created by The Miracolatore, the right hand man of Ludovique and creator of her "miracles." He put something relating to the Papess Agape inside of Noa, which is implied to be the source of her powers.
(» Sky Doll: Doll's Factory #1)

For an unknown period of time, Noa "lived" inside the Sky Doll factory. She stayed there while the Miracolatore continued to work on her and perfect her, which meant that she had even more limited memories. One encounter in the factory we know of is when Noa met a lost Gothic Lolita model robot (Juliet model) who was looking for her "parents," AKA the family that was planning to take her home. She explains to Juliet that Miracolatore assigned her to the reboot program, which seems to mean that after her required rest, she would wake up an almost completely new person. Noa is told by Miracolatore that she is a "Dreaming Doll" model, meaning that she has "real" memories. However, this meant that Noa would have weird, horrible and vision-like dreams of Agape's memories.

Noa ends up leading Juliet to a different room than the one they were looking for. Noa leads her to the production room where there are hundreds of "Juliets" lined up. Juliet finds out that she's a sexual model, but isn't as surprised as you would expect. Noa continues to lead Juliet to her destination, where Juliet is haughty towards Noa, claiming that Noa took her there to hurt her pride. She also holds herself above Noa since Noa is a "cheaper model." They arrive and Juliet hops in her car with her family. But as it turns out, Juliet was a faulty model. She was being used as a crash test dummy.

The author's notes for this story explain why Juliet met her fate in a little more detail: "The Dolls that think themselves unique and special are considered flawed units..." After this event, Noa decides that it's time for her to leave the factory.
(» Sky Doll: Space Ship #1, Story #1)

Noa attempts to escape the factory one night, pulling herself free from her power cord and stumbling into the next room. There, she finds lines of other Sky Dolls, and winds one up. When it asks her what she wants to do, Noa sets the doll up as a decoy. The doll goes one way as Noa escapes--she encounters a group of guards and kills them (it's implied that they aren't the first), but when the guards catch up to a Doll, it's the one that Noa had wound up. Noa manages to escape the factory with her key and a manual for Sky Dolls, but all of her memories of the escape and everything before it vanished. She knows that she has to belong to someone to be wound up, but decides that it will be her choice from then on.

Noa had a series of jobs of an unknown length before we get to the main series. However, a handful of them are expanded briefly in the Space Ship series. There's no real chronological order to them other than the resume that she gives in Sky Doll #1, but that's only of the last three jobs that she can remember. So I sort of made up my own chronology based on how they reference each other.

So the first job that we know of is when she was a cowgirl at a ranch. Noa worked with two other Dolls, Candace and Ingrid in taking care of and herding cattle. When the cattle are infested with milk-sucking toads (exactly what it sounds like,) Noa has the great idea to kick the cows in their proverbial tits to try and get the toads off. A man watches from afar and decides to approach the girls, thinking that they could be customers.

He introduces himself as Spike Romano, a very eccentric and odd man. Noa and Ingrid are doubtful, but Candace is totally taken by his eccentricity. Noa and Ingrid try and blow him off, saying they have work to do, so he gives them laser guns to shoot them off. They don't know how to shoot, though, so he has to teach them. They manage to get the toads off the cows with their new guns, but once the dust is clear, they see that pairs of cows are now joined at the head. Spike does admit that's why they were recalled, but his head is now stuck to Ingrid's.

It actually turns out perfectly well, though. Their owner didn't mind, since the cattle were easier to handle that way, but Candace and Noa ended up getting fired. Candace was perfectly alright with that, though, since she married Spike--Noa was the bridesmaid at their wedding! But after that excitement, Noa decides to return to the city.

Noa's next job is told through the eyes of someone that overlooks her work. He's a young musician, and Noa is, essentially, his muse. He goes to see her before and after work every time she works, and plays music for her to listen to once she's done working. The bishops of Johanna are corrupt, so even though it's frowned upon for them, Noa worked in secret. She was a dominatrix made up to look like Papess Ludovique. General dominatrix goes on, etc.

When Noa exited two hours later for the meeting told, she took off some of the dominatrix gear. The young man approached, and said that he wrote a song for her. Noa listened and told him that she liked it, and they discuss his song a bit. But when he asked if they would meet at the same place next week, Noa responded that it was her last job, and thanked him.
(» Sky Doll: Space Ship #2, Story #2)

This is where Noa's memories begin! Noa worked in a cosplay bar called "Purgatory," where she was the barmaid. The story is mostly about the other dolls working there in this story. A Gothic model named Justine who is into voodoo kinds of stuff attempted to cast a curse on their bitchy owner. They were missing one part of the required spell items (tears of a virgin, haha), but they decided to just skip it and go onto the dance. So they make Noa do DDR, but the spell backfires. This is because:
a) They were missing virginal tears
b) Noa can't dance
c) It was bullshit anyways
d) All of the above

One of their customers vomits a space plasma bug, or something, which knocks Justine out. When she wakes up, she's hoping that she was able to become a human, since that's what the spell was really for, but of course it didn't work. Noa decides to look for a new job!
(» Sky Doll: Space Ship #1, Story #3)

Mentioned as a part of her resume in Sky Doll: Space Ship #1, Noa was briefly a test-dummy for a company called Astromachine. But what we do have information on was when she worked as a cab driver for Flying Angels. The story with this one is pretty simple! Noa drives around two drunken passengers, but they leave a leg behind. A holy relic, to be exact. She realizes that she accidentally swapped her passengers' holy relic with a Sky Doll leg, so she decides again that it's time for a new job.
(» Sky Doll: Space Ship #2, Story #1)

And that's how Noa came to Haven Spaceship Wash, her current place of employment. Noa works for a guy that calls himself "God," and works with four other Sky Dolls in a sexy spaceship wash. They're all scantily clad, and basically the business plan is "dolls rubbing themselves against the front window of a shapeship and sort of clean it." God is a a jerk who deals in selling illegal relics, and the pay is bad, but it's not actually that bad of a job, so Noa is there to stay.

...For a little while, at least.

Canon Point:
Beginning of Issue #1, Yellow City.

Reality Description:
The world that Noa lives in is far from normal. She lives on the planet Papathea and usually in its capitol of Johanna. Papathea has a population of 20 million inhabitants and roughly 2 million churches and temples. The religion of Papathea is presumably similar to Roman Catholicism based on its iconography, but it does center around its central religious figure: the papess. Interestingly, despite the rather misogynistic society, the pope is always female. The current papess is Ludovique (also, you'll see about ten spellings of her name, but that's the one written in artwork, so that's the one I'm going with), but she didn't get there easily.

Before Noa was born, there was an era of Two Sisters. Two papesses ruled together, and each represented different sides of the religion. Ludovique represented the carnal part, while her sister Agape represented the spiritual part. Though we aren't sure how, Ludovique had Agape killed after a rift started to form in the religion, giving Ludovique absolute power over the church. Ludovique then forbade all depictions of Agape, but there is still a healthy black market for her iconography.

The physical center of the religion is the Papal palace, where Ludovique lives, and various services occur. The most notable is "The Vision," where special effects are used to give the public a chance to get close to Ludovique and receive her "miracle." Miracolatore controls these effects, and they include Ludovique bleeding from her hands and eyes as well as laser beams that incinerate people instantly. Miracolatore is, ironically, a devout follower of Agape, and works for Ludovique in hopes of resurrecting her, presumably through Noa.

The church uses an endorsed TV station to promote themselves, where the main personality is Frida Decibel. The TV station is on its own space station and is a major production, but Frida uses it as a place to hire "heretics" to save them from being persecuted by Ludovique.

Space travel is easily possible in Noa's world, though we only know of one other planet: Aqua. Aqua is a civilization of purity and spirituality that stresses individuality, yet ironically, all of its members are cloned from one being. They are an entirely female, fish-like species, but otherwise, not much is known about them, since they are picky about what visitors they accept into their society as visitors.

But of course, one of the most important elements of Noa's universe is the Sky Doll. Their general mechanics are explained pretty well in Noa's appearance section, but they place a special role in society. Ludovique declared that it was not a sin to lay with a doll, so the Sky Doll corporation's profits increased hugely almost overnight. Obviously, most Sky Dolls thus serve in the sex industry, but they are capable of working many jobs. They are highly advanced androids that come in a variety of models and are given personality chips to simulate a constant personality, despite their Mnemoic Limiters, which make them loose their memories periodically. This is to prevent the formation of a "real" personality, but Noa is one of the few dolls that possesses this ability.

Noa works for "God," who she describes as "very egotistic, always wanting to take revenge on everybody, macho, and lacking a sense of humor." The other dolls that Noa works with are actually given their own personalities, names and other facts, so I'm putting that in here, for reference:

Lovely Lou
Height: 1.75 m
Weight: 70 kg
Measurements: 110-40-90
Characteristics: Nice, understanding, lazy and dumb as a rock
Skin: Extremely soft
Shape: Voluptuous
Eyes: Red
Lips: Full

Juicy Lee
Height: 1.65 m
Weight: 50 kg
Measurements: 70-50-70
Characteristics: Very obvious affinity for machines; very short memory!

Sandy Blue
Height: 1.72 m
Measurements: 80-30-85
Characteristics: Passive, depressed, temperamental, unpredictable. Under her seemingly soft exterior lie several hidden surprises. (She's a yandere)

and an unnamed Sky Doll with a purple fro.

First Person Speaking Sample:
{A young girl comes onto the Plane. Well. She looks like a girl, anyways. For those sensitive to such things, she's actually an android with some biological parts. But only where it counts, bb. And the places where it counts are all scantily clad, revealing the joints that make it obvious that she's a mechanical being of some sort}

... Um, crap! This doesn't really look like God's office, but...did he change the decor without telling us? Oh no, did my Mnemonic Limiter go off already?! That wasn't supposed to be for another few months. Wait, that's not possible! I definitely wouldn't remember God if that were the case!

{She looks thoughtful, but not that bothered by the sudden space, so she take a few steps}

Hellooooooo!! Are you there, God? It's me, Noa! If this is your new office, it's really bad taaaaaste!!

{But with no immediate response, she just smiles, starting to walk towards the nearest...thing.}

Actually, since he never listens to me anyways... I guess a look around wouldn't hurt! I've never been off of Papathea before...

Third Person Writing Sample:
Tuesdays were Noa's favorite day. It was for the same reason that anyone else favors a particular day or the weekends--no work. The Wash was closed on Tuesdays, which mostly meant that the Dolls all lazed around and slept for most of the day. There was nothing wrong with that! But unfortunately, Tuesday was also chores day. Since Bonny Robin had cleaned the place last Tuesday (including God's saintly shroud that he was planning on selling), that meant that it was Noa's turn to clean.

She couldn't believe how dirty it had gotten in a week. While everyone else was sleeping, she had to step carefully around the piles of clothes. She could see quite clearly that her co-workers underwear was stained with their internal fluids! Noa wasn't the most neat person in the world, but she made sure to wash her underwear every day, at least. ...Well, when God remembered to pay her. Maybe she couldn't criticize after all.

She picked up a pile of laundry that wasn't laden with underwear, taking it towards the laundry room, but something was in her way. Her foot caught something on the floor, and she tumbled to the ground in a style typical of an old comedy show, leaving a bra stuck on her head. Noa frowned, blowing hard to get the strap out of her face.

Noa started to pick up the clothes again, grumbling lightly about how they needed to pick up after themselves, but when she looked around for the culprit that had tripped her, she saw that it was a package. Much more interested by that, she set the laundry down on top of the machine, picking up the package to look at the label.

"...'To Robin...' I bet it's a present from that nice man whose spaceship we washed the other week. He didn't have to send her a present, though! Hmm, I proooobably shouldn't open it, since it's Robin's, but...How bad could it be?" she said brightly, and tore the top open. But when she looked down inside the present, she couldn't help but giggle. She took the mysterious item out of the package and was off to share it, the laundry completely forgotten.

She snuck back to the room where everyone was sleeping, and saw that the lights were still off. Giggling mischievously, she flipped the light switch and jumped into the room, holding it out.

"Hey, Robin, I found your package!" she exclaimed, "Look, it's a dild---oh."

On the other side of the room, God was standing there with the other Dolls. There was a group of men with him, all of them looking quite shocked. Some of them even looked like they were from the Church. The other Dolls were trying not to laugh, but Noa just let the threw the dildo over her shoulder into the other room, beaming brightly as if nothing had happened.

Obviously it was the first Tuesday in the month. ...How was she supposed to keep track of when he had his meeting here if he wouldn't buy them a calendar?!

Did you read the rules?
NO!!!
