God is good. Some things happened recently that proved it to me all the more. We had the family over for Christmas this year and I parked across the street to give everyone more room in our driveway. The next morning (early morning where it is still dark outside) I get up and glance out the window and see that my car is cockeyed. My first thought was, "Man, I am a terrible parker". I parked in a hurry so I didn't think much about it. Anyways, later that day I go to take my car to the Chevy dealership because the shifting was off or "sluggish". So then I am driving down SR 43 and I look in my passenger side mirror and notice that the back skirt of my car is hanging off! I didn't even think to look there when I got in the car. I first thought I did something, maybe hit some rocks or the bricks on my porch as I was driving up to the house, but there was too much damage. So I drive back home and Quentin hooks it back on so it's not hanging anymore.
We called the town Marshal when I got home and he took a few pictures and told us that the chances of finding this person who hit my car were slim. The only thing I could think about was that I never park across the street and when I do, I get hit!
So last week we call the insurance and then I find out that my deductible is $500! I had no idea. But thank goodness I got full coverage because I went to Mike Raisor Ford and the total to repair the damage is approx. 1,800. Yeah, I would rather pay 500 than that any day.
First off, 500 is a bit salty for me. I mean I'm a college student who is also a waitress (which I'm hoping that will change soon, I hate it so much!) The week before all this happened I realized that I had not received the money from my 40/8 Nursing scholarship. So I notified them and they reimbursed for the semester that they had overlooked and the last semester. So I got $500 from that!
After I got an estimate and made an appointment for my car, I found out the other day that they think they found the guy who hit my car! What are the chances of that happening?! Anyways, the Marshal notified me of this and also stated that the guy was a soldier who was driving drunk. He's supposed to go back to Iraq this Monday so they are having the trial tomorrow (Thursday)! These kind of ordeals usually take a month or two before a trial is held! It looks like I won't be paying for the damages after all! Praise God! Sometimes things do seem completely unfair but we need to learn to place our trust in Jesus anyway. I wasn't even in the car when it got hit and I never park over there. I knew it wasn't fair but I asked God for his help. He provided. He has definitely shown me what an awesome God he is. I love him so much because of who he is and how gracious he is to me. I'm completely awestruck.
