FIC: Echoes by Cowardly Lion

Oct 07, 2008 18:34

This fic has timed out from Ancient's Gate 15: The Way It Is. Set early in Season 7, this is over 8,000 words of Jack and Daniel first time drama and angst as the men come to terms with Daniel's returning memories and the pain it brings.

Rated NC-17, it has spoilers for Orpheus, Small Victories and Abyss. MASSIVE thanks to mlevinsand

Very nice! I like fic that takes them from something that seems unfixable to happy together. I also like ones that deal with Daniel getting memories back. I always wanted to see more on the show dealing with him trying to settle back into a life he doesn't remember. Love your happy ending. :-)

Love your happy ending.

You know me - you're practically guaranteed a happy ending with my fic. I think I've only written ONE piece that didn't have a resolution that at least gave hope if not actual happiness. :D

That's one reason I like your stories so much! :-)

I was reading through this again and noticed something I missed the first time:

“It doesn’t matter what you thought, or what we want.” Jack picked his jacket off of the chair and tossed it to him. “This is the way it is.”

"what we want" This time this suddenly jumped out at me as Jack telling Daniel (intentionally or not) that even though Jack is convinced that this is something he can't have, it's still something that he wants. Not surprising that apparently Daniel missed it during the shock of that scene.

Or I may be completely off in left field. :-)

If you're out in left field, then you're standing next to me, because that's exactly what I was going for with that. Jack really wants there to be a "We", an "us". At that moment he's freaking at the thought of "cheating" on the military, but that "we" slips out.

Poor woobie.

Poor both woobies.

Thanks, I'm glad I read it right then. :-)
