Ep Review - SGA Tabula Rasa

Nov 02, 2007 21:55

This is the Mass Amnesia episode.  Overall I gave it a good.  The pacing was good. The switching between past and present was used well.  Rodney was very good in this.

Intriguing beginning - sets up suspense right away - Rodney chained to a console, the  press here note and the panicky video.  In some ways it was reminiscent of the beginning of the book Wolves of Memory by George Alec Effinger.

Katie's naming a plant after Rodney.  Such a sweet gesture. It's prickly like Rodney and it's phallic, too. How thoughtful of her.  :)

Empty hallways...dead guys...freaked out Zelenka...creepy set.  Love Zelenka muttering curses in Czech.

So it wasnt' just the bad jacket last week -Sam does have tummy. She's also not in anything remotely resembling a uniform.  So much for being A Military Officer and Leader Of the City.  Even the Civlians are in uniform, fcol. when her hair is pulled back,  it still looks messy because of all the scraggly side bits and the bangs.  It looks like she's about to go for a jog and took all of 10 seconds to put up her hair.   When it's down it just looks thin and uncombed. pfffffft!

Heee!  Nothing stops Rodney's appetite. Katie's meal gets delivered while she is asleep, and Rodney's got the tray on the bed and he's chowing down like it's all going to disappear in minute.

The look on Rodney's face when Katie remembers nothing. Sad!

LORNE!!  Pill-popping and toes covered up, but still cute.  Until he turns into Crazy Nut Job Lorne. Good thing Shep had that Polaroid taken AND that Lorne didn't lose it.

Smart Rodney. He already made a videotape, now with that unavailable, he's writing notes on himself.  Still a leader even with his memory gone, still working to resolve a crisis.

With all the experience Sam has with autopsy and medical procedures (and hey, what astrophysiscist doesnt'?) it's a wonder she wasn't down in the med lab cooking up a cure.

At the beginning, John's only job on screen was to give Carter someone to spout exposition at.  Since he had a hefty amount of screen time in the last two eps, it's only fair that someone else gets more this time around. Later on, when John and Ronon pair off to find the plant, John's part was more interesting.  I like how the two of them interact.

Oh Noes!  It's the chicken pox of the Pegasus Galaxy.

Teyla is good at the pep talk for Rodney.

Once John is cured, and Teyla mentions there have been casualties, the first person John asks about is Rodney. :)

Nice bit at the end between Rodney and Katie.  I think she's a nice lady and I do like her character, I'm just not so sure she's the right person for Rodney.
