The Subject Was Movies: The Center of the World

Sex Is All in the Mind, because I didn't see much in this movie, The Center of the World.

Sex is an Attitude and in the first two screen caps, you can pretty much see what each of the principals thinks of Having Sex With the Other. Nothing Hot is Cooking with Her. He can't wait to Sizzle Some Sex with her. Just buy a Chef's Apron at the Williams Sonoma behind you buddy. Or register some Long Term Relationship gifts at the store.

She is just doing it for the money and she can't wait for the Sex Ride to be over. The thrill ain't there.

The story is that these two goofy kids decide to travel and have sex: a computer geek who lucked out in the earlier computer takeover of the World and made Lots of Money; and a struggling and lousy pop band drummer who was born too late for her time, if she had only been born in the 1960s so that she could have been a member of the Shaggs.

That would have been her Musical Time.

These two kids, the geek and the girl (not the Shaggs) hook up, and for a certain price, the girl will do Sexual Favors (::cough::Hooker) but NO PENETRATION, she is a Lap Dancing Tease, at that hotel in Las Vegas that has Small Size Statutes of Lady Liberty and the Eiffel Tower and Mona Lisa. That hotel in Las Vegas that pretends to be the Vegas Version of Disney's It's a Small World With Even Smaller Landmarks.

Sounds like Sexual Fun, doesn't it? At this point in the movie, I began to understand how Newt Gringrich spent half a million dollars at Tiffanys. Sex ain't cheap. I wouldn't sleep with him for less than a $100,000 Diamond Tiffany Ring. Hugh Hefner's latest financée wouldn't do it for less either. A girl has got to have her Diamond standards.

Sex is Sex. We all Learn this in High School, some of the late bloomers don't pick up on that until College. No one in this movie understands the Concept although there is "A lot of Splainin'" going on.

The girl drummer has a friend who has Lawrence Fishbourne's daughter's expulsion problems.

This looks like my last gynecological exam. It is always a Learning Experience at a University affiliated Hospital.

Anyway, every body's feeling get hurt.

It is not a Celebration of Lust or whatever it was supposed to be.

This movie didn't make any sense to me. I failed to understand the woman's motivations. Sure, she could use the money, but then her resulting actions just didn't make sense to me. I guess I am NOT a Whore, just a Bitch. And why are Whores in movies always so attractive? Has no one ever seen some of these ladies in Parking Lots? Whoring is a tough job and it does not wear well even on the Young. I just didn't get it. And the Sex Wasn't that Good either.

Peter Sarsgaard played the geek perfectly though. He never made a false move in the movie. But this movie is a MAN'S movie, and I say that with a sigh of boredom. Men's views of Sex are never very interesting or revealing.

soft core p, the world, the human heart, lagniappe, movies, the subject was movies
