WHY, WHY?! about something on Smallville.
Some mysteries are best left unsolved.

El Tres! will not be denied. All of Lex Luthor's wives must come back. I wonder where Desiré is?

But they went too far with Conner's attack(s) on Lois.
You know, I'm going to see that rough handling as the courtship attempts of an immature boy in love. It's like fourth or fifth grade when the boy who had a crush on you would come over and push you on the playground to show his regard and affection. Or he would always tease you about something. It was annoying, but he didn't know what else to do to get your attention and make you like him.

I changed you from "erstwhile" to estimable. A much better adjective for Movie Night companion. That word didn't mean what I thought it meant. 8-P

Thanks for mentioning Heat, I didn't credit it for the boys with the fire eyes section and I should have. I was also thinking of Transference and the tractor lifting of the boys; and that made me think of the differences between Lionel and Alternate Lionel. Some other time...

Smallville is very much a Visual Experience for me. I don't always pay that much attention to the dialog, plot, or character inconsistencies. Smallville always does its visuals beautifully and that is what captivates me so much. I suppose it is the Silent Film Viewer in me. If you can tell the story to me with compelling and themed visuals, I will give you my full attention and fill in the other (character, plot, and dialog) spaces on my own with my own interpretations and subtext.

Another lovely note in this very good episode:

Look at the lips of Lex.

Look at the lips of Conner.
They match! Such lovely details (and Lips) and such careful attention paid to make them consistent. This is what I am looking at when I watch this show. And it never fails me. It has the visual consistency of a good dream.

Another thing I noticed:

Notice the movie or travel poster on the Talon wall.

Now notice Lois in one of her panoramic views of Earth. Lois was with Hawkman in Egypt at the time.

It is the visual echoes of the themes that I so like. Lois and the Earth, we see what binds Clark/Superman to this world. All the love making and avowing of love can't show that to me or convince me the way that these visuals do.

Well enough of that, over the hiatus, I am going to do my re-watch of Requiem and Power and see what I can see about LA LANA and her redemption. Lana will be back in Season 10 or at least my version of Season 10.

Reminds me of that Huzzlewhat quote you pointed out to me once upon a time. ... I can't find it. About Smallville being a visual show. I'm going to take this on in addition to my SV Jazz. I want to have fun with what's left of my pretty, pretty show... and be able to enjoy my DVDs once it's done.

Oh my goodness! *claps hands* El Tres to the maximum! I cannot wait! I SO need a Lana icon now.

Wonder where I got my icon?

I don't read other reviews of SV until I have written my own. I want my post to be my opinion uninfluenced by others.

But looking at your review and some others after posting this, evidently I completely missed or dismissed the violence of the Conner/Lois interaction in the ruined Luthor mansion. I abhor violence toward women and I am usually not so insensitive to such things. I am thinking about it now, and it will probably be addressed in my Lana post. I have the visuals in my head for Lana and Lois and the comparisons.

Now you know why my reviews and posts all have pictures in them. It's what I see. I forgot about that huzzlewhat quote. Maybe I can find it again. I'd like to see what it said again.
