It is definitely telling me something about Winona and how she sees her relationship with Raylan. I think that she thinks that she is still married to him. She can take off the second marriage and have at it with Raylan without it being cheating. Annul the second marriage during those times that she wants the first marriage back in force. It seems like some of those marriages that the Catholic Church annuls even though the marriage produced five kids. It is all for convenience's sake.
Ava and Boyd were alike for me. They were both people of above average intelligence and great potential who were wasting their potential in their lives in Harlan County. Ava could have been a US Marshal and she would have been as good if not better than Raylan. She was a quick thinker who didn't lose her head and could get herself out of dicey situations. She was courageous and generous.
Boyd could have gotten an education and been---whatever---a US Senator or Judge (like Mike the Hammer) or anything. Boyd could have used his ability to lead people for the better. Ah well.
