Fringe: This is Your Brain in Walter's Hands

May 28, 2010 05:31

It all started with the landing of an airplane with all souls dead aboard it.

It continued with the discovery of a conspiracy and a ghost network that communicated in High Latin.

The Conspiracy had planned the airplane disaster along with others.

There was a Bus Accident:

where the Passengers were dead and encased in a crystalline substance:

Walter Bishop: "Like bugs in Amber." The Plane Passengers were in cocoons like grubs. People and Bugs.

Shakespeare: "As flies to wanton boys, are we to the gods.
"They kill us for their sport."

Who are these gods? or Conspirators?

The Conspirators communicated through a Psychic Network of Iridiumnated Receptors. Iridium is used to make special containers and it is used in hypodermic needles. That explains why Walter knew about it.

Walter's Drug Problem

Dr. Walter Bishop spent the last 17 years of his life in the Looney Bin because he was a Looney. But how did Walter become a Looney?

It was the 1970s and Walter embraced the Drug Culture with both arms and hands.

First it was the Psychedelic Light Shows:

And then it was the Hand Puppet Shows:

Then add some psychotropic drugs and mind altering chemicals (including iridium):

And dose yourself heavily:

And the next thing you know, you can't tell the difference between reality and its reflection. Then you can't tell the difference between a vibrating phone and a fart:

Or the difference between a rabbit:

Or a Duck:

Walter Bishop: "It always comes down to the duck." And then you start making bad puns. And the Men in White come and take you away to Bedlam where they have disgusting Butterscotch Pudding on Mondays.

And that is Our Public Service Announcement for the Day.

Walter Lends a Hand

Walter had a hand in creating the Ghost Network before he went insane.

He drugged up this poor sophomore who needed some pocket money and signed away his rights and life and brain for it. Walter put some iridium in his blood and years later, the no longer poor guy is hearing the Gods or the Devils speaking in Latin in his head.

That confessional box certainly looked like one of Walter's lab rat cages. So maybe Organized Religion is in on the Conspiracy.

There is the Stigmata and the Balance Sheet of a Life behind it. And there are those Dirty Hands.

Let's look at Walter's hands. We've seen his hand puppets.

There is the odd way that Walter holds his hands when he is speaking or meditating.

Does Walter have Clean Hands? I think not.

Walter and his son Peter are doing what Claus and his son did. Human experimentation in their Laboratories.

What is the difference between the Good Guys and the Bad Guys?

And by the way, Mr. McComb, why would you let Walter mess with your head after he messed it up to begin with? Even a Bug is smarter than this guy.

Do not stray in the Hall ways, Hansel and Gretel. The Wicked Mad Scientist will get you and dissect you in his Laboratory.

The Wicked Witch Walter has his evil assistant, Astrid. She is prettier than Igor could ever imagine himself to be with gene splices.

Seeing

So now we "see" that the Good Guy and the Bad Guys are doing very much the same thing. How can we tell what is "Good" and "Bad"?

When we see the world, we see it with certain modifications from our brains.

Images on our retinas are formed upside down. Our brain modifies our perception so that we "see" it right side up. So, right from the start, we are not seeing things the way that they are.

We've all got Blinders on.

It's the Human Condition.

Funerals

We attend the funeral of John Scott, Olivia's Betraying Lover.

We attend the mass investigative wake of the Bus Accident Victims.

But John Scott's body was not in his coffin. His body was at the laboratories of Massive Dynamic where Madame Sharp (MD) was doing her own weird science to recover his memories.

Instead of speaking Latin, John Scott was speaking in Binary Code. And with translations, that is another shaky human perception that must go through different mediums and senses to be apparent to us.

Is Madame Sharp a Good Gal or a Bad Gal? Remember, she does see things differently from most humanity.

She has a different perspective on things.

One Last Thing to Notice

Who is the strange bald guy? He's giving our heroes (?) the Beady Eye.

I wonder if he speaks Latin.
