I called Anthem (my health care provider) today because I'd really like to change my meter. Ever since I was diagnosed, 13 years ago, I've used mostly an Accucheck. (I say mostly because I also have a Freestyle. But I bought that myself and I buy the strips myself. It's my backup meter. Anthem won't OK it on prescription).

Anyway, I'd like to get something besides the Accucheck. Yeah, it gives an accurate reading, but it requires so much blood. My poor fingers, which are kinda skinny, are a mass of teensy scabs at this point. Plus in this winter weather, I get tired of squeeeeeeeezing out the massive blood drop required by the Accuchek.

So. Anthem will OK the One Touch or the One Touch Ultra (with a prescription from my doc, of course). I'm about to go check them out online, but does anyone here use these, and what can you tell me about them. Do you like them? Do you need a huge gout of blood? And how accurate are they?

Thankyousomuch!
