It has been a rough day in the trenches of home console modding. It was a day of failures, actually. Not only could we not repair the previous LCD screen, a new one that I got was ruined right away when the ribbon cable connecting the lcd to it's pcb tore. So after a few hours trying to get either one of those working again, we went ahead and decided to try a PsONE LCD, it's a bit larger, but should use the same voltage as the psOne, so it'd be possible to run it off a rechargable camcorder battery.
Well, after spending half an hour trying to crack open the damn case, and physically exhausting myself in the process, we could finally begin testing the a/v connections to see if it'd even work. Well, it looks like you can't just use whichever Video type connection you want (composite, svideo, rgb), because it wouldn't display anything unless I actually connected it to a PSX with the connectors (with every one of them touching). Spent an hour and a half or so trying to wire up the minimum amount of wires we thought could get it working (tore open the blister I had from a burn from the Soldering iron that was inflicted last night). Still doesn't work, so I've got to splice together another 6-head wire tomorrow to see if it might even work.
Just doesn't seem like fortune was on my side this weekend on this project. I'm not quite ready to abandon it though.
