>Kanaya: Regain Sense Of Identity

[916 Bilko Boulevard, Action]

*It's very early in the morning, when all good human children should be sleeping soundly. Except that if, for whatever reason, you're walking through the halls in the dead of night, you might hear very troubled sounds from within Kanaya's room. It sounds like she's having a nightmare - an extremely vivid nightmare ( Read more... )

What is sopor? There may be a local alternative if it isn't too complicated a medicine.

I find that doubtful. It is a sedative slime native to the planet of Alternia, which we trolls use to fill our recuperacoons. If there were a similar substance I doubt it would be suitable for that intended purpose.

Well will any sedative work, or does this one have a specific function as well as sedation?

There is a specific function of the sopor that, as far as I am aware, is only relevant to our species. However, I'm a bit reluctant to just share that with a stranger.

I understand and wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable. Still if you would like me to look for a medical professional I could ask around. Its a bit out of my area of expertise but it really suits us all to do what we can for each other.

It isn't that I'm not grateful for the offer; I most certainly am. It's just that, well, I think caution in dealing with xenocultural interactions is rather prudent.

Suffice it to say that my kind suffers from extremely restless sleep unless encased in a sopor-filled recuperacoon.

No, I understand. I was in the space fleet at home and the difference in culture between colonies on different planets was rather great. I can only imagine the difference in species.

So this is nightmares then?

For lack of a better word, yes. Yes, it is nightmares.

I see. I haven't found a good medication for those either in all honesty, or at least not a reliable one.

Do you have chronic nightmares as well? That's unusual; I hadn't known humans were also susceptible.

Psychological trauma can do it to humans. Anyone is susceptible I suspect.

Ah. Um, you have my sympathies, in that case. I really wouldn't wish this sort of thing on anybody.

Its the way the universe works. Still I've found that close proximity to some people helps, but that is not necessarily a good solution. Is there anyone that could provide a sample of this slime to look at briefly to get its chemical composition?

*And her voice changes slightly.* I'm not certain, to be perfectly truthful. If there were, I can't imagine they would part with it easily, as our supplies here are very limited.

No, I very much understand, that's why I said look at, not take. There is also the post office, but I very much advise against that for consumable resources.

Hrm... I'm sorry I can't give better answers, I'm lacking too much data to ponder much.

No, that's all right. I've been providing insufficient data anyway.

Why would you advise against the post office?
