Heart work = faith (trust)
Hard work = through works (good deeds and favours)
At the start, all you need is a spark of faith:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9
but
after awhile, that glowing spark of faith won't last forever. You need to fan the flame through works.
While works alone won't gain u the love u crave, hard work is still necessary in love because a growing faith is most evident through action:
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
James 2:14-18
and so that's how faith and works go hand in hand.
works cannot precede faith.
because faith must first come from the heart.
