'Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
9When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
10they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.' - Acts 3:2 - 10
Little discovery:
I go for jogs when i'm bored or discouraged, but I dance for healing.
The physical exertion felt from usual exercise is very surface. Dance makes me warm up from the inside out, use my breathing to warm up the muscles deep in my body. In times of slow warm up, i feel the muscles in my foot wake up, I extend my arms, feel the back contract and roll my head around my neck and breath evenly. slowly.
It makes me thankful for my mum who let me learn ballet from young. Thankful for the years of training that I can appreciate the wonder of my body and how it works.
After warm up, we learn the short choreography and then we go full out. I put in my emotion and move with the music. 'feel the music' is what they call it.
As I move, I am in awe in the moment. When we're down to the last step, I regain my balance, exhale in a whoosh and the satisfaction and little bits of healing take over.
Endorphins course through my body and I feel happy and relaxed on the bus ride home.
It's even more wonderful since I joined dance ministry and learned how to incorporate dance into Christian life as well. Dancing as a prayer, dancing in praise unto God, dancing to worship and carrying God's presence in the dance to be a blessing to others. Dancing to surrender before God my idols.
God's mercies and grace leads to healing. I just feel it more through dance.
Ever thankful. Amen.
