Alex stared at him for a second, like he was just about to genuinely smile. It didn't last though before he pulled his eyes away, his features adopting a bit of a hurt look.
"There's no helping me," he said, voice cracking a bit.
Jack scowled lightly, reaching a hand up to cup Alex's cheek after a second.
"There has to be a way."
