good things on a good day
wow, it's been forever. but today's too good to keep to myself. well, let's call it today on my graveyard shift working terms. today = the past 24 hours.
i woke up "today" to jenna coming home and telling me she got a GOOD, well deserved pay raise this year. this is good for many reasons. the obvious ones, plus the not so obvious: she is appreciated at work and there's proff - compensation! also, it's good for her (and anyone for that matter) to be appreciated by the people and places that you actually give a shit about.
a little later on we went to "breakfast" at our (yes, OUR!) olive garden. we went with jenna's dad to celebrate his recent retirement. we got one of our two favorite servers who totally wait on us hand and foot (probably cuz we have been tipping them upwards of 10 bucks lately when 4 or 5 would do due to the fact that we got a bunch of OG gift certificates for xmas this year), everyone was in good spirits, and paul liked the present we (read: jenna) got for him. things seem to be going really well for him too these days. that's good for us too, especially jenna, because i know she cares a bunch about her dad's happiness.
maybe 10 hours later i was finishing up at work and got called up to the main man's office for sit down -- i was recently informed that the production manager of the night shift is retiring after 42 years with our company. i was also told that i will be taking his place! that is insane and still hard to fully absorb. this means i have been promoted, again (that's 3 times in as many years), which also means new hours (good for my health, seriously - graveyard is killing me) and new money! significant new money. again, good stuff for us.
my day was almost over. i was home internetting when a DHL delivery guy knocked. i wasn't expecting ANYTHING. what i got was the test pressings for It's Alive Record's FIRST LP, The Copyrights "Mutiny Pop"!!! and to add even more awesomeness to an already awesome thing, it sound, yeah, you guessed it, AWESOME!! holy crap, jesus christ, fucking a dood.
