Blank-Chase Apartment, Saturday Evening

Saturday night.

Party night.

Date night.

Or, for Angela Chase, the night to be busy on her computer, toggling between a paper on Queen Victoria she was writing for her history class, a website about strange pregnancy cravings, and the budget she was trying to make for the summer.

She stretched her arms over her head, ready for a break.

"You are one multi-tasking fool," Marty said peeking over her head at the monitor and then starting a small shoulder rub. "Either that or Queen Victoria had a thing for pickles and ice cream."

She smiled, relaxing into his hands. "Stupid deadlines before the fourth of July," Angela commented. "Oh, hey, did you get the extra-garlicky sour dills?"

"Um. They only had the regular garlicky," Marty said frowning slightly. "But I got garlic salt so you can sprinkle it on them. Does that help?"

Angela whimpered a little. That wasn't quite the same thing at all, but ..."I guesssssss," she said. "We can look for the really good ones tomorrow, right?"

"Okay," he said leaning over to kiss the top of her head. "Though how about I make a special trip and hit the other Zabar's on the other side of the city and you finish your paper instead of going on the great pickle hunt of 1998?"

"Okay," Angela agreed, leaning into him. She'd been very snuggly lately.

"I hate being in school in the summer."

"I know," Marty said slipping his arms down to give her a hug. "But you'll still graduate on time and get some time off when the bundle of joy comes around. It's pretty smart thinking."

He then gave her a peck on the cheek. "And if you get your paper done maybe next weekend there's a B&B up in the Hamptons with our name on it."

"I hope I can graduate on time," Angela said, frowning a little at the computer before turning to look at him. "And that is an awesome incentive. Thanks."

"I try," he said with a little smirk. "Besides if we need an nanny, I'm betting Marcella will move heaven and earth to come here. We just won't allow her to cook for the kid."

"Letting her do that would be child abuse," she said with a shudder. "I think we can manage without a nanny."

She also didn't see how they could afford one, but she knew Marty had money she didn't want to ask about.

"I'm not really big on the handing off of parenting responsibilities to a hired hand myself," Marty said with a nod. "Even if she would probably do it for free."

Angela blinked at him, not sure she understood where he was going. "Well, I mean, I get that, but ... I was thinking we could use the school daycare? I mean, my mom worked, and I kind of thought. You know. That I would."

She wasn't going to give up everything.

"Well I'm not saying no to daycare," Marty said with a grin. "Sorry, I was just thinking about some of the families back in Grosse Pointe where everything was handed off to the nanny to take care of while the parents went to the Carribean."

"Yeah, no vacations without whasserame or whassisname," Angela said, hand absently grazing across her stomach. "I want a job where I can stay home if he or she is sick, and make dinner most nights, and all of that. If I, you know, finish college."

"You will," Marty said with encouragement. "We'll make it all work somehow. I promise."

"We have to. We owe it to ... Graham or Kassie or Avery or whoever this turns out to be, right?" She frowned. "Hey, did you make a list of names?"
