Outside Pixie Cabin, Friday Afternoon

May 18, 2007 12:17

Xander made his way to the camp for the first time in years, finding Angela's cabin less via her directions than with a little help from the ferret currently sitting on his shoulder.

"Hey, you."

"Hey," Angela said a little wanly. "Can't believe it's my turn to say goodbye already it feels so soon."

Bridge gives Angela a little wave. She hadn't been around the first time he'd been a ferret, so he knew she wouldn't recognise him. //Tell her I say hi!// he says to Xander.

"LOLFERRET Bridge says hi and then conveniently flees for work," Xander dutifully repeated, pointing to his wee shoulder-passenger.

"Hi Bridge," Angela said with a wave. "It's too perfect I get to say goodbye to a person who's a ferret right now."

"How'd it happen this time?"

"I'm starting to think he's allergic to trees. Apparently he just touched one and poof."

"That's a very Fandom allergy" Angela said. "Inconvenient for camping."

She blinked hard. "I'm going to miss this place."

"I did. Kind of a lot." Way to cheer her up there, Xander. "I, ah, made you something that might help with that? Or, y'know, make it worse. Values vary depending on emo quotient."

He pulled a small box from the gym bag he was carrying on his non-ferrety shoulder.

Angela stared at the top of the box, tracing the map with a finger. "That's so, so, gorgeous," she said. "I'll keep it forever. Even if it does have an emo quotient. Everything does today anyhow. Thank you."

Xander smiled. "There's a twinkie inside. Don't keep that forever. Even though you probably could."

"Maybe I should have it bronzed," Angela suggested. "Though ... that might make it sad, never being eaten."

"It would," Xander agreed, long familiar with telling this story to another redhead, with chocolate chip cookies as the star. "It would never get to fulfill its twinkie destiny."

Angela nodded, solemn. "So I'll eat it on the plane. Just in case." She wouldn't, it was too precious. "But I'll keep the wrapper."

"Hey, you remember how we were gonna try to meet up for New Year's, 2001?" Xander knew he'd sent her an e-mail-in-a-bottle at the time, but he hadn't exactly flooded it with details.

Angela thought for a minute. "I remember that. And that one of your e-mails said something about that, but I never got around to asking you the details."

"Things were kinda busy back home then, but I looked up your family's number, and they were actually listed, so I called, and there was a you there. Not you-you; this one never went to FH. But she'd heard of it."
