To all my fellow Augustinians,
I am assuming the majority of the readers of this post have already heard the news about our Augustinian faculty member, Mr. Edgar Abodiles. For those of you who are not in the know, our Augustinian brother is currently experiencing kidney failure which should be treated as soon as possible.
I quote from the letter sent to us by Ms. Ekid about his situation:
Dear Augustinian Alumni,
A teacher in the High school and current Head teacher of First Year, Mr. Edgar Abodiles, suffered renal failure two days ago and had a second dialysis this afternoon. He was advised to undergo a kidney transplant the soonest possible time.
Mr. Abodiles is a bachelor taking care of a mother who herself had just undergone dialysis last week and a handicapped brother. A younger brother is left the task of taking care of the sick mother and brother in La Trinidad, Benguet. The High School faculty is now taking turns at watch at the Makati Medical Center.
Today he was advised by the doctors to locate kidney donors because he has to undergo kidney transplant the soonest possible time in order to save his life.
We now appeal to all alumni for assistance in securing donors for a kidney, from individuals or from institutions. We have no other recourse but to appeal to you dear alumni, to help an Augustinian teacher, get a kidney he needs.
We appeal particularly to those in public affairs, in the media to help us secure assistance. We ask everyone to please make the possible connections to Kidney Foundations for a donation. We ask particularly. Annette Gozun of Channel 7, Karen H-Davila of Channel 2 and all the those in position to help an Augustinian in need.
Please pass this appeal the fastest possible time... time is of an essence... Any assistance shall be highly appreciated.
Sincerely...
For an Augustinian brother,
Ms. Pureza C. Ekid
-- End of Message --
We have also gained information that the handicapped brother was mentally challenged. Furthermore, the treatment for his dialysis costs Php 2,500 (per dialysis) with a frequency of thrice a week. All other information to be gained will be posted immediately.
Several members of the Alumni have already begun to act on this matter by generating a “Fundraiser” for Mr. Abodiles. This will be an event (a concert) to be held in CSA on targeted dates: 12th or 13th of this coming October. It is crucial that we are able to push thru with this event in the said target dates due to the immediate financial need of Sir Abodiles.
We are encouraging everybody to support the said fund raiser. Also, the group organizing the event is welcoming any form of assistance (whether cash, kind, manpower help, production etc.) you can offer to the team.
Everyone, please subscribe to the fundraiser yahoogroups to have updates on the matter:
