Writing meme from
yogurtpo3 1. How long have you been writing?
Um...three years, I believe.
2. And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?
This seems like so long ago, but I used to love w-inds.. And while stalking LJ comms, I came across a little thing called KeiRyu...how shocked my 19yo self was at the slash LOL. Now when I read, it's like, whatever...*desensitised*
3. What kind of fanfiction do you like to write?
I've only written one, and am about halfway through the second. And have one barely-even-there abandoned one. But I like romance, with loads of angst - not between the main characters though. I can't stand them hurting each other haha.
4. Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore?
I guess so, if you look at my two fanfics. Not sure that the average would be very meaningful there, but I don't plan on writing anyone else. Although, who knows what the future will bring!
5. What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it so?
Erm, that would be I want to be your secret, for obvious reasons. I think people generally liked it because it's pretty damn romantic (who knew it could all come out of cynical me!), and a lot of people commented that they were happy it had no NC-17 business LOL.
6. Forget other people...what is the fanfic you've written that you're most proud of?
HMMM I WONDER.
7. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing?
Sometimes, shit just comes out, but most of the time it doesn't. The most difficult is just getting in the mood...and being in the mood at inappropriate times! Like in the middle of teaching. If I can't capitalise on the mood right away then I tend to lose it.
8. Write a few sentences or so about your favorite pairing or character.
Why Ryopin, one may ask. To be honest...it's because I'm really superficial and think they are the prettiest, and I can't read/write fic about non-pretty people ^^;;; Also, Ryo snark <3
9. Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches that you're sick of?
Mmm...not really a trend/cliche, but I don't like it when the word "boyfriend" is bandied about. Then again, I don't like the term girlfriend/boyfriend for mature persons in general. Also I HATE it when a character gets housewifey/exceedingly feminine, unless it's done in the most camp, hilarious way possible. And it pisses me off a little when "I love you" is meant to be the be all and end all of a fic. And emoticons and Japanese language in English fanfics! Wow, I have a lot of complaints.
10. Are you guilty of any of these? Or have you committed other crimes?
I hope not! Although in the one I am writing, I couldn't help using one Japanese word, but I really, really hope it's excusable. I promise it's not itadakimasu.
11. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you continue to like/participate in it?
JE. I haven't done anything for a year, but I am participating in private haha. That sounds so dodgy.
12. Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write.
Ryopin...
Pi I find really hard to write. I don't get him at all. I guess I kind of treat him as a blank canvas, and that's what enjoyable - I get to project myself a lot. Ryo, well...I'm really bad at writing humour, but I love it when other people write funny!Ryo fic. I like how I get to write him really dark and broody.
13. What would you call your writing "style"?
Too long sentences that don't really make sense if you look at them too closely haha. Too many metaphors/similes/meaningless details/wtfs. Lots of emotional/situational description, heavy reliance on canon, weak plots. So..."character-driven"?
14. Do you read other people's fanfics? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?
This is going to sound really bad, but I don't read other people's fics very often...sometimes I think the golden age of JE fic writing is over, just like the golden age of JE juniors. So many really good authors have just gotten a life disappeared.
If I do read it's ALWAYS any combination of Ryo, Pi and Jin. And sometimes I dabble with Aino, but it's really hard to find Aino fic.
15. Name one thing you'd LOVE to write but haven't yet.
Something random and funny. But that won't happen.
16. Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have a really bloated ego?
Yes, but I try VERY VERY hard not to. Most of the time I fail though haha. I do appreciate criticism when it's useful, but most of the time I know what's wrong anyway, so it's like getting beaten up twice. I am slightly sensitive. I honestly never thought many people would read my fic because I write so demented, but when I got more than ten comments, yeah, my ego inflated a bit haha.
17. When you write is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?
Boredom LOL. Knowing I should really be doing something else!
18. What inspires you?
Last inspiration came from a clothing ad with a witchy theme. Random stuff. I steal stuff from authors and then try to rewrite it haha.
19. Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experiences and yourself as a writer?
I have had some very good fanfic reading/posting experiences. There are some amazing people out there who should really be writing books. But then I wouldn't be able to read their stuff for free =P And then there is
yogurtpo3, who has shown me that perseverence definitely pays off! Let's give this one an ending, Y/Y? =D
To sum up myself...hmmm...I'm okay ^^;;
