I almost gave up on Jake, but we are hanging in there!

We are proud of Jake -- he FINALLY has started bring back the ball to play fetch. Yay! This trick may seem quite elementary, but Irish Setters are quite the odd ditzy-sweet pup, as far as development and temperment. This was *NOT* the dog for us, but I think the dog is changing us for the better, because we doing our best to make this dog-thing work. Man, it's like having a toddler in the house again, LOL. Dog Whisperer, you are the bomb -- please visit me and I will make you the best chile rellenos in the Southwest!

Jake is a little over 5 months old, and he is HUGE. He romps around like a crazy cat all the time -- and I mean crazy. We just sit back and laugh and the zigzags he does all over the yard as he plays with toys. Damn, this is one hyper-ass red monster. He looks adorable when he gets in this butt-in-the-air, head down, innocent-look pose, though.

It has been a challenge, but he is a permanent part of this family now and has brought us a lot of joy. Our two cats wouldn't share this sentiment about Jake, unfortunately. but they do get their "cat-time" when we put Jake in the backyard. He sleeps inside (foot of bed)and then I leave sliding door open and he comes and goes in and out all morning. When I start work, he goes outside until the kids come home. When G gets home in the evening, Jake becomes a nut. Wow, this dog is a big NUT. This breed is called the "Peter Pan" of dogs. They don't fully mature until about 2 years of age. They say this is when they get a little more mellow. On boy, can't wait until then, LOL. THen we will consider getting him a "wife' HEH.
