Hee. I'm really the one being 'judgmental'.

The Harts are seeing (and reacting as unthreateninly as they humanly can to) the same horrible parenting choices that I saw as I watched the series play out onscreen.

If I had loved a child I couldn't take into my home as much as I might want to (because the parent had [and refused to share or relinquish] legal custody of said child), I can only imagine how I might feel if I found out later that child had been abandoned by his mother and ultimately taken in by another family.

Hopeful? Certainly. Particularly if that child had been burdened with all the family issues and disadvantages that Ryan had. The thought of a better life for him? With a good family? What a wonderful thought.

However, were I to subsequently find out that the people who took that child in had him living outside in a glass pool house rather than inside their home? Had already thrown him out at least once? (Thank you, Seth, for that revelation.) Stood by while he faced down a crazy kid with a gun, apparently making no move to stop him or protect him? Didn't talk though the aftermath of that episode, together with all the trauma I'd just learned had preceeded it?

If I loved that child, I'd be concerned. The Harts (surprise!) share my concern...

Your writing evokes so many emotions from me!
This is exactly my feeling too.

I read these comments with interest. I too, felt the same way as Famous and chic but was nervous about saying so. I know we all have feelings about how the Cohens treated Ryan and I wasn't sure if your writing (of Megan particularly) was reflecting the frustration we all felt. I see from your comments it is. But I, like Famous anhd Chic I think, feel protective of the Cohen/Ryan relationship and I have to admit that Megan's attitude has niggled me quite a bit as I read these last two chapters (I was behind anyway). Having said that Seth was certainly being a jerk, and quite rightly rankled her, but she doesn't have the whole picture with which to judge. I can't help but feel sorry for Seth and the Cohens, but feel so for Megan too who clearly wishes she could have done more for Ryan. But I also want to shake her and say "The Cohens are good, loving people". Hee. But how awesome is it that your story is making us all feel so passionate about it? That's so great after the show finished two years ago! Thank you.
