*clings* I'm in the "red eyes, full hearts, can't lose" stage and am struggling to stop snuffling around and go to bed already because it's late. I thought I was done, then there was a block of interviews at the end of the episode and that just set me off again.
THE FUCKING INTERVIEWS MAN. Like, the credits started to roll but my copy is all "NOPE FIVE MINUTES" and I'm just spinning out nightmare scenarios where they show us how EVERYONE DIES ala Six Feet Under, but NO. NO. It's more heart ache. But the good kind! The moar tears kind, too.
I'm so happy this show gave a platform for this cast. They deserve the world. Or maybe another season. BUT THIS WAS SO SATISFYING TOO. We can pretend they can always pick up with the Philly team, right? Right.

YES.

YES!!! I absolutely loved how they opted to film the State Championship game, how it became a representation of that particular moment in their lives/journeys and much bigger than whether or not they won or not...and cutting from that last pass to Eric in the next stage of the Taylors' lives was pitch-perfect. His new team in Philly, new group of men to mold, new purpose (and of course, most importantly, his purpose now in support of *Tami's* career)...MAH HEART CAN'T TAKE IT.

You put it perfectly. I love how wonderfully epic and underplayed it was at the same time. The sound design on those scenes alone was stellar.
sidenote: I am so, so happy that they actually won. I know it's petty and real, real life might not swing that way, and if they got another season, maybe they would have lost, but god I want just good things for all these guys, and it was nice to get that, it felt more like a gift to us than necessarily these characters, because we got to see them move on too. long sidenote is long.
his purpose now in support of *Tami's* careerI was honestly holding my breath for that, most of all. Connie and Kyle's work was just stellar for their fight, her hurt and the near betrayal, even if Eric's reasons were perfectly understandable too (the team, that town, they were also their family, you know? he
( ... )
Don't you dare be sorry!! I was only silenced by Eastern Standard Time and a work day looming :-) That was the heart of the episode, I totally agree. I knew that it wouldn't be the marriage I loved if Eric didn't recognize that it was Tami's turn...but they weren't going to make that easy. Loved him holding her as she cried outside the restaurant -- even when they're at odds, the love each other and find comfort in each other.
I just need to rewatch from the beginning, CLEARLY.
