A Cup of Tea, A Cookie, And.....
"There, there, dearie". The lady was fussing over Gina, plumping pillows behind her on the small settee. "You've had quite the scare now, haven't you?".
"I guess it must have been much worse than I thought". Gina replied. "Why on Earth do people feel the need to make these awful mazes in the first place?".
The lady finished fussing and stood up. "Well, dearie, to each his own, I say, to each his own. Would you like a cup of tea?"
"Oh yes, please, that would be lovely. Please tell me, what is your name and what is this place?".
"Oh, where are my manners?. I'm Molly and this is my tea and sweet shop. We're right across the way from the maze that gave you such a fright. I'll just be off to the kitchen now and back in a minute with some tea and a biscuit for you. Will calm your nerves, it will".
As Molly walked off to fetch tea and cookies, Gina took a look around the little shop. The front window was large, and sure enough, there across the street was the maze, with a long line of people waiting to get in. The window was dressed in frilly white and pink curtains. The shop was filled with small tables and chairs, each table set for two. All the room decor was frilly, and pink and white. On one of the sideboards, a huge gingerbread house took center stage. It appeared to be a version of the shop, but as if the shop were actually a chateau or large manor. A name plate over the door of the house read "Molly's Place".
"Here you go, dearie!". Molly returned with a dainty tea cup filled with steaming tea, and a plate full of biscuits They were gingerbread, in house silhouettes. And of course they were pink and white.
"Thank you, but I'll pass on the biscuit. I'm on a diet" Gina said.
"Tsk tsk, you are thin as a rail. Meat on those bones. We need to fatten you up a bit. Winter is coming, you know". Molly smiled as she held out the plate of biscuits.
"Well, maybe one" Gina replied.
Before she knew what had happened, Gina had eaten the entire plate of biscuits, there must have been a dozen or so. Even after so much tea, at least 3 cups, she was feeling so sleepy. She just couldn't keep her eyes open. Molly had been chatting at her the entire time, and was still chatting away, but somehow Gina couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. He eyes were closing, again. She fought to keep them open, but failed, and fell asleep in the settee.
Molly stood up, smiled and walked to the front of her shop. She closed the drapes, and turned the shop sign to "Closed". She went back to the kitchen and lit the pilot for her old oven. It was enormous. "Oh, the place will be so cozy when this warms up"
