Random thoughts/observations in December

While out yesterday, I saw two men who both had significant, disfiguring scarring on their faces. One had a scar that looked like a knife cut that went through his eyebrow at a slant, giving him two brows where one had been. The other had angry, keloid scars over much of his face and neck and my thought was that he was a major burn survivor. An hour or so later, I heard a version of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" that contained messages from active duty military to their families and friends. One that really grabbed me was a young mother to her 4 yr old daughter, whom she won't be seeing until sometime next year. I am so thankful that I have all of my family and friends around me and that we are all healthy and whole.

Last night on the way home from a friend's home, I saw a pick up truck loaded with plants, presumably headed for someone's yard. They were snapdragons in full bloom. It was 11:30 pm. I am so thankful that beauty can be found in unexpected times and places.

On a less profound front, neither Toys R Us nor Target have bubble solution in stock. Answer given was that it's a seasonal item. This is Southern California!!! 70 degree Christmas Days are not unknown here!

When I finally give in and get a mommy mobile, I want one that's high off the ground. I know I'll be part of the problem, but at least I won't be blinded any more by those awful, bright headlights!

I love children's books. They are so whimsical and uplifting.

There was more, but I can't think of it now.
