Re: delaying tacticscharsbandicootAugust 24 2006, 14:28:36 UTC
i don't want to waste time on extra degrees if i won't use them (unlike some OTHER people out there - oh, why do i even bother to be cryptic. inaamin mo naman eh. like YOU!)
but still. i'll have to work before i get into an MBA program :))
i also realized i don't love anything to a passion (in the context of career stuff) which was why i had and continue to have so much trouble finding direction as well post-ateneo. the good news is that as a jack of all trades kind of antipatika that you are, excelling was never a problem, so options come aplenty
( ... )
i know what you mean! ever since i was a kid, the only options for my future (after i got over the ballerina/princess/mermaid ambitions) were boring stuff. lawyer. businesswoman (oh that catch-all term). etc etc. never doctor bec it was tooo gory. i want to find work-passion too!
i can really imagine you saying the stuff you wrote. hehehehe. luv you antipatika :D
(of course i'm speaking as if we're not IM-ing now)
if i'm a kid, by transitivity you'd be a pedo >:) i only write when the weird writing bug strikes which (unfortunately/fortunately for my captive LJ audience) doesn't happen a lot :))
OH GOD I totally get you, Chars. Ano ba yan, kung kelan lang tayo matapos mag-usap about useless things over ym (boys=useless haha), that's when I read your entry about this.
If yours is a quarter-life crisis, mine is err..half of that? Or 1/6 life crisis. I can't even freakin' decide on my course! I have one year of bridging modules to figure out my life. Afterwards, there's no shifting and whatever I graduate in will lead to my future job (I have no idea what I wanna do yet.)
Gahhhh. I wish I can fly home and talk to you. Finally, someone who's just as confused as I am. Hahaha :) Okay, back to Physics now. Sigh.
thanks to the wonders of technology, we can talk online as much as we want (read: as much as our damn skeds permit). hehehehe don't worry, if in 2 years you still don't know, you might derive some comfort from knowing i didn't either :))
heyyyy boys aren't useless! especially "10/10" boys nyahahaha =P
p.s. jen, most people (forgot the exact statistic) end up doing something completely unrelated to their course. read my post on the conflict between an undergrad liberal arts education vs. a "technical/professional" one :)... or i'll just ttyl, while we're still in the same zipcode :)
ditto about the having-no-passion thing. so my policy now is to work on stuff i at least find interesting in a way that'll let me learn about a whole bunch of other stuff that i also find interesting. i think it's a little stupid -- and boring, really -- the way adults keep insisting that we figure out what we want to do for the rest of our lives NOW, as though we (and what we love/like) will stay the same for the rest of our lives. so my advice is to relax, breathe, and find something you're willing to live with for a little while at least. anyway, who says you can't be a renaissance woman at this day and age? it's part of the perks of being good at everything :p
by the way, you can take the bar wherever -- you don't need to be a citizen. i have a british friend who's a lawyer (as in, he passed the bar exam) in california, new york, and britain, so...
haha. good luck charsy :D and don't stress about this sort of thing too much.
you know, your telling me not to stress about something so much is sooo deja vu!! back when we were debate partners longlonglong ago and i was worried about having to disrobe or whatever for dwtl ( what a joke THAT was :p nyahahahah hope no one who hasn't gone thru it yet is reading this) you told me not to worry about it too much, and that made me less antsy.
anyhoo, somehow it's very comforting, coming from you. thanks dear, and good luck toooo! >:D
