leo talk

I am on livejournal every day reading my friend's page, but I always have a sleeping Leo in my arms so I can never leave comments or post.

Leo is about two seconds from walking, but he just won't do it. He walks with help, stands by himself, walks around with his walker toys all day, and recently he figured out how to go forward on his ride on toys.

After doing some research and talking to other parents, I think one reason why he has been a little slow with moving because he had low iron levels, which is apparently common in breastfed babies. WIC checked his iron at his one year visit, and prior to this I had no idea his iron was low. Who would of guessed WIC would tell me something valuable that I don't already know! They were pushing me to start solids at four months and at six months said he should be eating three meals a day plus two snacks. They are always shocked and somewhat confused when I tell them no, he does not need any formula and yes, I am still breastfeeding about five times a day.

He has made improvements now that he is eating lots of solids. I guess I should of fed him that nasty processed iron-fortified baby cereal more often, like that would of made a difference. Babies with low iron levels hit milestones late, are somewhat difficult and cranky babies, and do not sleep well. This was all Leo until he started eating solids regularly and I really pushed the iron.

Breastfeeding has made some things harder on me, and others much easier. One problem we have is that he has to nurse to sleep, so I am the only one he will sleep for. It gets tiring and I always have to be around at 1pm and 8:30pm for his nap and bed time, which is only a problem once in a blue moon. However, we did not have to break him of his bottle or pacifier. He started refusing the bottle at 10 months, but he rarely even got one. He just wanted his cup or boobie. He does not have an attachment to anything at all, just his boobie. No blankie or stuffed animal or pacifier. Yet, anyway.

Leo is my life, he is all I talk about. I am doing alright personally. A vacation would be really nice, though. My throat hurts and I think I am getting sick, boo. I ran out of vitamins, so I haven't been taking them for about five days. Probably not a good idea.

Ron was an ass on Sunday. He went out drinking after work Saturday and again Sunday after a very long weekend. He worked from about 10am-11pm both days and Leo was not on his best behavior. Saturday night I was about to put Leo to bed when I smelled something really foul. I picked him up and he had a diarhea diaper blow out. So I had to give him a bath, which is a bad idea with Leo after 5:30pm because he will not sleep afterwards. He did not sleep until 2am. Sunday he was cranky from the second he woke up and he only took a half hour nap after four attempts of putting him down for one.

I became infuriated with Ron when he said he was 'leaving after this beer' and an hour later, he was still there. He said some mean things such as 'piss off' and 'get off my ass you are driving me crazy' and I am still bitter. My freind called me at 2am to tell me he was passed out at her house. He did not come home until 8am. I did not sleep much, and I hadn't slept well the three nights previous either. Yesteday I was a zombie.

I haven't been out at all since St. Patty's day, which was not a whole lot of fun because I watched him dancing with his friend from a distance and she was rubbing her ass on him and he had her hands on her. So he has been on a tight leash, understandably.

yep, I need a vacation.
