That's right - Shae and I are such dorks that we started working on a 1776 Drinking Game (It's hard work - but someone's got to do it!)
Last night was Round 1. We plan to do many test viewings in order to perfect the game, so expect to see a few update posts as time goes by. We started out easy, with just one drink per instance. We might make it more complicated as time goes by and rules tighten, but for now, we were sloshed enough.
Rules
1. "Mr. McNair!"
2. Rum = a toast "To rum!" before drinking. (This rule might be the reason why all the rum is gone.)
3. Depressing letters from "Your Obedient *drumroll* G. Washington."
4. References to boning wives. (Whores do not equal wives.)
5. Mr Adams is called "Obnoxious and disliked." That exact phrase must be used.
6. Every time Franklin is pervy.
7. Ever time New York abstains... courteously.
8. Whenever we could take one of the few non-sexual moments in the movie and make it sexual by adding "That's What She Said." (It must still flow/make sense.)
8. Whenever it's very obvious Mr. Adams hates on R's. (Nevah! Fiyah!)
9. Pick a state - drinking whenever that state is mentioned.
10. Drink for every "Lee" (you will need to pause the movie and refill before "The Lees of Old Virginia.")
After round one, we've decided to discard rules 1 and 2, as we ran out of alcohol before the movie was over, I was passed out before teh slavery issue was solved... hell, I was done with a bottle of some of the most alcoholic wine I've ever had well before we reached "But Mr. Adams." I suspect switching to straight rum, killing that off, and then switching to raspberry vodka did NOT help at all. Shae started off with low alcohol wine coolers but drink double the amount of hard liquor I did so she caught up pretty quick. Unfortunately the wine coolers added a little bit too much liquid without enough alcohol so we had to pause a LOT when she emptied 4 wine coolers in about 30 minutes. XD
Updated July 4, 2009: Number 8 has been replaced with drinking every time someone says "Lee". Optional addition of toasting to your favorite colony every time it's mentioned. "To Virginia!"
