Tutorial - icon coloring

Hi everyone, hope You missed me a lot :d
Of course You do.
So, I feel really bored, and, although I`ve got a headache, I'm going to show You how to make this:

from this picture. (thanks for www.sweetandtalented.com )
It`s not so hard as it looks like.

Before we start, I want You to know something about all this mess. The picture should have quite good quality. This kind of coloring is for beige images, but it may be just not so well saturated ones (but I can`t tell You that the result will be the same). I will be glad if You try to vary the settings of the layers, just to make Your result better. Be creative. And, I'll be glad for any notice or tips to make this tut better.

Firstly, crop Your image. (If You`re not advanced in cropping, You can see a few of million possibilities here )
Next, if Your base is dark, copy it (ctrl+J) and set it to Screen. If Your image need more contrast (it should), copy it and set to Soft Light. You need quite light and contrasted base. (I did the both)
Done? Great. Merge all. (ctrl+shift+E)
Now, copy Your base and sharpen it. (Filter->Sharpen->Sharpen, for example) If Your image is to sharpened (like mine) low the opacity. I set 70%. DO NOT MERGE.
Now, crop again Your base (not the sharpened one!) again, and make sure that this copy is at the top. It`s very important. Set the opacity to about 40%. Than go to Filter->Blur->Gaussian Blur and set the blur to about 4,5-5,0. Okay.
Now, your image looks little blurry and foggy. Good.

Now, the coloring.
Layer->New fill layer->Color fill, fill color, dunno, I don`t have English version of PS. Just make a new layer with #830000 and set the blending to Lighter. Opacity 100%.
Layer->New fill layer->Color fill, #D5D5D5, Darken. Opacity 100%.
Layer->New adjustment layer->Brightness/Contrast. Contrast: +20, Brightness.
Done!
Hope You liked it :)
