You can't be selfless all the time. It's good to think about yourself every once in a while so you can tell if whatever you're doing or not doing with your life is working or not. That sounded confusing. Well...don't say you're selfish.
Anyway... I think people have this whole "selfishness" thing COMPLETELY wrong. People whine constantly about how the world needs to be a better place, we need to respect bitches, we need to stop shootin bitches in the head, blah blah blah... Well, if people spent a little bit more time sitting at home painting random objects hot pink and reflecting on the self and being downright "selfish" the world would be a better place, because you must first be in tune with the self before you can relate to others and respect them, their existance, and how they choose to spend their short time in this life.
I agree to an extent with Brittney. In order for one to be completely selfless, one must be in tune with himself and have utmost certainty (think of the jedi). But almost no one ever obtains that level. And the few who do make some impact whether across the world or in a simple town. Many of us however, are not fated for such a daunting task, and live simple, but beautiful lives with some meaning in them. Things become pretty half-assed if you aren't in tune with yourself, or you could live on ignorantly without question. Whenever you're uncertain, contemplate or open your heart to someone.
I have just gotten onto LIveJournal and I am concerned. Are you ok? I hope all is well...it is just the jewish mother coming out in me. :) If you need to talk, call my cell or e-mail me.
