oh my word, this is gorgeously put and just...a beautiful sentiment.
i'm afraid i'm going down with this ship, too, no matter what. you have eloquently, intelligently and without malice stated the heart of the show for me.
and this:
Despite whatever else may go on, I'll take whatever brother moments I can have and cherish them.
Thank you so much friend! So glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this.
There's just so much, I don't know, malice? (ha! I just noticed- you must have primed that word for me) being flung around lately and my first impulse is to react to it. But that's not what I want to focus on, so I wanted to put this out there instead, in case there were other Brother fans out there feeling a little... overshadowed.
It feels a little like swimming against a tide. But I'm still swimming.
I'm consciously trying to stay away from it, but it's hard. I get a hint of the crazy anti-brother faction in comments to articles and various places and I am so tempted to jump in and read and shout and contradict, but I have to pull myself back and remind myself that I don't have the time or energy to engage all that. I care, a lot, but I just can't get involved on that level, for my own time and sanity. So I wanted to make a small noise at least, at my own journal.
truly, it's not worth arguing with them. i think some of them like to argue for argument's sake, so you really don't have a chance to make any kind of a point. and secondly, people are people and like what they like and sadly, hate what they hate. i don't understand the vast majority of it, but here we are, i suppose.
in a broader perspective, i wonder if it's fandom. kind of like the "survivor" mentality -- the reality show. in buffy, there were spike fans and angel fans and bangel fans and spuffy fans and those wars were EPIC as i understand it. (i was too much of a noob to really get into them, but i heard about them after the fact.) hell, there are even shipper wars in csi fandom -- no joke.
so again, people, you know.
keep the brother love coming and it was a pleasure to boost such an awesome signal!!

i literally couldn't have said it better myself.

i, like cillab42, think there are more brother fans out there than people realize. i think we're a bit more quiet, but equally strong.
there are a lot of folks swimming with you, bb. <3
