scene 11

Jan 11, 2008 23:14

I am holding five books in my hands.

The angels are singing.

That is all!

((OOC: Someone discovered the library, infinite thanks to Waverly. And no, Sarah doesn't want to talk about what was magically left in her room, so don't ask her. She is pointedly ignoring it, hence the books.))

angels bending near the earth, poetic distraction, books books books!, look how the floor of heaven...

Having met some of the angels around here, I think a few of their songs'd have explicit lyric warnings.

Oh. Really? I didn't really mean - that is, it was mostly a figure of speech, but...

...do we really have angels here?

Angels, Gods, at least one Adversary. It makes atheism pretty tough I have to say.

Well, at least the metaphorical angels don't have explicit lyrics...I hope!

And hello! I'm Sarah.

Rose Walker. So which books got you in raptures, exactly?

You have a lovely name.

Oh! They're all poetry - Yeats, Tennyson, Keats, Shakespeare's sonnets, and a copy of Dante. Something has made me want to read The Inferno again.

Yeats, my favorite poet. If you ask Lucien nicely he might be able to find you a couple books of his you've never even heard of. Ask for 'The Paths of Gold.'

Do you have any favorites of his poems? (I know - it's a cruelly unfair question, but I had to ask.)

Thank you for the tip! I will certainly have to ask Lucien. I've only just met him, but he seems incredibly kind.

It changes a lot. Right now The Hero, the Girl, and the Fool hits a few nerves. Mom used to read The Rose of the World to me when I was little. I guess that one means the most.

Lucien's great, almost pathologically helpful. He's my... he's a good friend.

Mmm, lovely choices. Now I want to go reread them - and no wonder your mother read that to you, it's perfect!

...is it terribly rude of me to ask what you were originally going to say?

Lucien's my uncle's assistant, in the library where they're from. It just sounded a little impersonal.

Oh, how lucky. You've been able to grow up surrounded by books, then, with both Lucien and your uncle.

Not really, considering I only met them here. I bolstered my own collection outta several different public and high school libraries, though, and probably owe a fortune in late fees.

Oh! Well, that was fortunate that you ran into them.

See, this is why I always made sure to make friends with my high school librarians - because avoiding late fees makes for much happier reading! Also, I don't think many people noticed the librarians, generally. They were a quiet group - but very nice.

I would love to see your collection sometime!
