Then you find another reason to keep going. I'll tell you this though, you'll get farther with optimism than without it.

Of course. There's so many amazing, beautiful, inspiring things in the world it's hard not to be optimistic.

Don't you find that sometimes people act as though it's a bad thing, though? A flaw?

I do. That's because they don't understand how you can hope for and believe in the best and still prepare for those expectations to not be met. And some people have been hurt so bad by hope that it's a foreign concept or a painful memory.

I think it might be harder for those people to realize their full potential, and that's tragic.

There is always hope. No matter what.
