Snow!

Glorious, crisp, beautiful snow!

I knew it had snowed even before I ran to the window to check - it feels different once it’s snowed, has anyone ever noticed that? The world is suddenly brighter, cleaner. I would almost say you could smell that pure, white freshness. The snow lay neatly, a blanket of sugar-coated frosting, covering the streets to remind us that the season reached us.

I adore this time of year. It’s always been my favorite simply because it’s so warm. Oh, yes, it’s frozen outside, of course, and night settles sooner, but that only means you must burrow away, seeking solace with cocoa and cashmere. It means softly-lit candles in windows and Christmas trees in living rooms. It means lights twinkling outside and music played everywhere. It means smiling at those you know and at perfect strangers. It’s like the world has finally caught up with itself by slowing down.

Like magic.

This weather positively demands ice skating - well, maybe I’m the one who positively demands ice skating!

childlike wonder, christmastime
