Hi, I'm sorry to ask you this way, but I didn't know how else to contact you. I'm a huge fan of your video's, especially your Wes video, Suidicide Note, I see you use a Adobe video program. I made video's for my fandom, I run a CSI Website, I've made 24 video's so far, but I'm looking to step it up with a real video program. I was hoping you could tell me how well you like it. I'm in search for a real viding making program and don't know where to start even looking. I would so appreciate any input you could me. Thank you. Kelly

Hi Kelly. Thanks for your kind words about Suicide Note.

I actually use a couple of Adobe programs for vidding (Premiere Pro and After-Effects as well as some stuff in Photoshop)

The Adobe website will probably offer free trials of most of its software. This should be helpful in determining whether their products are for you or not. I recommend you start with Premiere as it is the easiest to pick up. I do the bulk of my editing with it.

There are a number of other programs that you could choose from. Avid do a very powerful program but it is very expensive and uses a lot of RAM.

Windows movie maker is the only free program I know of. There are websites out there that provide you with extra effects and transitions. I don't know whether they will help.

At the cheaper end there are products by Pinnacle and Vegas. If you are on a mac there is Final Cut. All of these probably offer a trial. vidding group memories will have a lot more information about all sorts of programs ( ... )

Thank you so much for your advice. I currently use Windows Media Maker, and I do enjoy it, but I think I've done about all I can with it. I just made a case CSI video with a ton of clips and a very action paced song, and it kept freezing up and locking up, wouldn't play, music would keep going when the video would freeze, I ended up having to make four different and piecing them together to pull the whole thing together. My big thing is I want to be about to layer clips on top of clips, which I cannot do with WMM, but you menioned a place with extra effects and transitions?? I will have to find that, maybe that's all I need. And thanks, I will definitley look into that community, always looking to improve my moving making..... Thank you

I've been having a browse round for links and I came across these two options that allow you to expand windows movie maker. The first link allows you to add effects and transitions but you will have to script them somehow. The second link costs a small amount of money but it's a lot easier than the first option, you just install and go. It's very, very easy and you get much much more. Anyway, check them both out.

I forgot to add - if windows movie maker is crashing and stalling and all that fun, then maybe it's a RAM upgrade you need? You might want to consider doing that before overloading your program and your system further with more installs/hacks.

Thank you, for the links and for the tip. I'll have to check that out. My husband is the computer internals expert. But the links will be very very helpful, after so many video's, I'm ready to kick it up to a new level for that special touch...... Thanks again for your suggestions, you have been ever so helpful....
