Weekend Update

Flew from Amsterdam to Munich to see Anna-Angelika and her family this weekend. Happily, I got to talk on the telephone with Miriam twice for a couple of hours. Finally got to see the White Rose Memorial at the University in Munich, ate my favourite Munich city/Bavarian foods, street performers, glockenspiel, Nymphenburger Schloss, and Englisher Gartens.

What I have learned from this travel:
It's better not to try and insist that, despite the Assistance (not seeing eye) Dog around my waist, I can in fact see.
This is because the more I insist that I CAN see - politely: "So, I just take a left after that red wall over there?" or impolitely: "I really don't need the plane's safety information in braille. I can manage with the flight attendant's instructions as well as you non-special people kthanks" - the more people insist that I AM blind - "No ma'am, please just wait here. Some one is coming to pick you up. I'm sure your dog is very talented at leading you places, < insert huge ROLFing event here since my dog failed out of Guiding Eyes for the Blind as a puppy > it will be much easier if you wait and just go with the cart."
Which, I guess, means I shouldn't really complain since they've kindly sent a golf cart to get me and now I don't have to walk the 3 miles to the other terminal of the airport.

So I guess I'll just be grateful. And I should probably start learning to read braille.
