Obsessive Tendencies & Sleep Deprivation

Apr 05, 2012 13:50

Every year or so, I discover an actor and get totally enthralled with him such that I spend a month (or longer depending on his resume) hunting down and watching everything I can get my hands on. The first actor that I went through this with is Laurence Olivier in Pride and Prejudice. He is my original Mr. Darcy.  My crush on Colin Firth was about 10 years later.

I think I was 12 or 13 when I saw Olivier's Darcy. I was already in love with Mr. Darcy from the book and it was before Netflix and YouTube and other modern technologies that make truly obsessive behavior possible. So over the years, several actors/performances have inspired me (read: eaten up hours and hours of my life) as have the amazing (and sometimes terrible) movies I've seen as a result (Near Dark starring Adrian Pasdar is a movie that is both amazing and terrible!).

I'm currently fixated on Shemar Moore and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

(Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan in Criminal Minds this Season)

(Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Headhunters, out in theaters in UK tomorrow)

I don't have time for this. I have so many projects I am working on and hunting down the movies these guys star in and watching them means I don't sleep. So a woman at work said to me, "you look really tired." I told her "I'm not sleeping very much." I didn't tell her why. I'm hoping to catch up on sleep this weekend. But I know, I will be watching Game of Thrones (again). So I probably will look even worse next week.
