Almost 2012

When I was a kid, I found this book by Remy Charlip.

The premise is for every good thing that happens, something challenging happens to little Ned, the boy wearing the parachute. What good luck, Ned is invited to a party in sunny Florida, what bad luck, Ned lives in New York. And so on.

For a number of years I've thought, this is perhaps the thing that best prepared me for adulthood. What good luck, I found the job of my dreams! What bad luck, my relationship of 5 years ended. And so on. The goal is to focus on the good things that happen, and not the challenges along the way. Good luck, that crappy job I had before led me to rediscover my love of fiction writing. Great luck, I am going to a writer's conference in May. Good luck, I started writing this blog to provide an outlet for my Jamie Bamber fixation. Good luck, I've found so much here that I love, I am so grateful.

It's a slow week for everyone at the office but me! Ha! Good luck: Job security. That book is a way of life!
