Pain was an entirely different concept when one was human.
A Time Lord had a high threshold, garnered from a trillenia of evolution, of exposure to the push and pull of time, of endurance beyond the bounds of human knowledge.
But a human...a human was just a new life, the bodies not so highly developed, the heart not so hardened.
The depth of feeling, the array of moments that could cut through one and cause you pain; it would be extraordinary if it didn’t hurt so much.
There was the pain of seeing anger on a face that was your own but wasn’t.
The pain of knowing that your best friend wouldn’t remember you after today.
The pain of rejection when the love of your existence chose another.
The pain of the knife you chose to take it all away.
Author’s Note: I am having a bad day. I’m sorry that this was completely depressing but I needed an outlet and I didn’t want to talk about it, so I used Cloen to express myself. (No, I am not taking the same route as he. It’s figurative.) Strangely, I feel a little better after this.
