I'm still in Virginia, having a great time visiting with my family and friends. I've spent most of this week planning my wedding, and I've made great progress! Tomorrow morning I have my first dress fitting, which means that I get to try on the actual gown that I'll be wearing. I can't wait. In a few days I'll post pictures of all my wedding stuff.
Random thoughts about my trip from Colorado to Virginia:
1. During the winter, I loved Colorado's frequent snow, yet mild temperatures and sunny weather. Now that it is spring, I am loving Virginia's flowers and blossoming trees everywhere I look. Colorado has better winters and summers. Virginia has better springs and autumns.
2. Colorado's roads are enormous--interstates, roads, and parallel parking spots are huge. They are probably designed to accommodate the massive SUVs and trucks that Colorado drivers like to use for some reason. I swear, the automobiles are tanks out there. I think the Ford F350 includes its own garage. Parts of Virginia, on the other hand, were designed in the horse and buggy days. Driving through Old Town Alexandria today, I had trouble maneuvering a Toyota Camry.
3. I had forgotten that WHFS 99.1 had switched formats. Imagine my horror as I rediscovered that bit of news.
4. I absolutely do not miss this traffic. It took me almost two hours to go 35 miles today. I called Mike from the Beltway and told him to run outside and hug a mountain for me.
5. It's so good to have girlfriends. For the past few months, I have really missed sitting with a girlfriend in a coffee shop and chatting about our lives. Guy friends are great, but there is something really special about a girl friend.
6. I love my friends in general. It's so good to see everyone! I had a wonderful time tonight with several of my friends over dinner. Thanks for everything guys!
